What is wrong with my Nikon FA?
My Nikon FA has always been wonderful for me; I’ve never had any problems with it. It’s the camera I use for all my school work in my photography major. After not touching it for almost two months (I’ve been shooting digital, and I’ve just been busy), I went to load it this morning and found that the shutter won’t fire. The spindle will turn to load film, but it won’t advance and the shutter release can not be pushed all the way down. The in-camera light meter isn’t functioning either and won’t give a reading. I have changed the battery to no avail. I am planning on taking it to my local camera repair store, but I was wondering if anyone could shed any light on what could be wrong with it now.

if you live near a ritz camera take it there! i used to work at one and usually since it’s something small they’ll fix it for you right there for free.
the light meter on my 1969 pentax has not worked since i got it off my dad last year and thats semi inconvenient lol
it looks like it’s stuck in the off mode (when the lever is clicked inwards)
Does the lever in any way seem stuck or feels like the internal mechanism is blocked?
@Tearofdeception: Thanks for that. I looked at it, and followed one of the instructions. I think it’s a circuitry problem, because the shutter will release on the “M250” and “B(ulb)” settings, but not on any of the other shutter speeds.
@Inofaith: The internal mechanism isn’t blocked I know, because I can load film just fine, and I’ve been able to advance on the settings M250 and B.
ok that leaves me with no more options. good luck
