What is a "rare" item?
I recently bought an Invader Zim picture disc(a 12” vinyl disc) with the theme song on one side and Gir’s “Doom song” on the other. The seller said it was a “rare” item, and I have to admit, I haven’t seen many of them. I just wonder, are all the items that people claim to be rare actually rare or is it just a trick to sell the item(either way, the disc was $7 with shipping and handling so I really didn’t mind buying it, after all, it’s Invader Zim)?
Anyway, I’m just wondering whether items like the vinyl are actually “rare” or not?

It’s more of a one of a kind…
Invader Zim??? =]
Of course I have, I love Invader Zim!!
Ah, okay. Just wanted to make sure! =D
A copy of The Gutenburg Bible, the original Declaration of Independence, a Louis XVI armoire, Milo’s signature.
if the item title is any color other that white, then it is a rare item. :)
I don’t think it’s necessarily a scam all the time, but no I don’t believe there’s any way to really know if something’s “rare” or not.
also, what Kiev749 said
People use words like “rare”, “vintage”, “antique”, etc. with great abandon and not much care. I am a professional appraiser, have been for over 30 years, and I remember individually every single genuinely rare item I have ever seen. Anything like a recording, where many copies were made is ipso facto not rare.
It’s all marketing jargon and I should know since I spend my days writing that same type of jargon. What I am really curious about is where you found this record because I would walk across broken glass for an invader zim color print vinyl record.
@drClaw. I found it on ebay. I was browsing random IZ items and then just came across it. I had found another one on google, but it seems it’s gone now.
