How easy is it to sync an android phone on a mac?

I currently have an iPhone, as one of the things I like most is its easily ability to sync with my Mac. With all the new android phones coming out, I’m considering switching back to Verizon eventually and getting one. How easy is it to sync contacts, calendars, music etc?

Do you use Gmail and Google Apps? That makes it a bit easier. But it’s not as smooth as the iPhone-Mac combo either way.
