Need Help with a riddle [Extreme Diffuculty]?

Gotta suggest the answer that the rest of the internet thinks it could be: a can of coke. But that doesn’t really satisfy rules 3 and 4.

The generally accepted answer seems to be “a can of coke” since it’s blackish liquid. I would say, though, just for the sake of fun, it can’t be, because you can keep it for more than one week.

So I would say it’s probably a molecule of some kind. They’re small enough you can’t see them, therefore black being the absence of light. They’re certainly bought everywhere around the world, they’re recycled all the time into other molecules, and when they’re done they can be crushed… the only bad thing is they can have more than one owner. Oh well!

One of the Yahoo Answers responses was a trash bag. That seems to fit better than a can of coke. (The can isn’t black, it can be kept indefinitely, and it can have more than one owner). Except of course that not all trash bags are black, and you certainly could keep a trash bag longer than a week, before using it.

It is a dream.

When you close your eyes, it’s black.

You never sleep more than a week.

When your dream is over it is considered crushed.

I like the explanation by @barumonkey but am leaning more towards the one by @MrItty . It doesn’t matter that not all trash bags are black….the riddle doesn’t say always. And once a trash bag is put into use, it is usually in use for a one week period. I believe @MrItty has the answer to the riddle. Good show.

@barumonkey Even though that’s the best answer so far, it doesn’t seem quite right. You say when you close your eyes its black, but the dream is not black. People try to buy their dreams all over the world? I guess they do, but it doesn’t seem like a typical riddle. Never kept for more than one week isn’t true if you have the same dream twice within the week. The one owner one makes sense, although I could argue that my friend had the same dream as our other friend. And the crushed part…that’s just not even correct.

Unfortunately I don’t have an answer to the riddle :/

The “official” answer really is very unsatisfactory.
