Where do the bugs go during the day?

Asked by sophied (106points) July 28th, 2009

At night I have these tiny, mosquito-like insects in my apartment. They’re obviously attracted to the light, they’re bright green, and small. I say mosquito-like cause they make that insanely irritating high-pitched noise, but they don’t bite. And all mosquitos bite me.
In the morning they’re gone, but at night they’re always chilling in the corners of my ceiling. Where do they go during the day?

Off to work. Night time is for play.
Actually, perhaps many insects are just nocturnal creatures.

I dare say that it has something to do with the fact that they’re attracted to the lights in your home. In the day there’s no need for them to go looking for lights because they’re surrounded by sunlight. At night however it’s all dark and hey presto, your house has light.

i agree with that. i don’t think i was clear in my question. how are they getting OUT before the sunrise? i close my windows around 5am (once it starts getting cold). i know how they get in at night, since the windows are open at night. but how do they leave before sunrise?

Well, what time do you open your windows? Also, I assume that you turn off all your lights when sleeping right? And if you don’t close your windows while sleeping, it’s probable that they simply escape because there are lights outside (eg streetlamps).
