How does the court system in Norway work?

Asked by shockvalue (5800points) January 9th, 2008

For example, levels of court, how punishment is assigned, and the specifics of how a sentence is carried out.

Thanks!

Well, it’s pretty much like the american. Except i have a feeling that in america things are more extreme. in norway you could never sue folks for serving you hot coffee without saying it’s hot.
It’s kinda hard to give you a full description of how it works, do you have any examples or specific case you want to know more about?

First you have the city court, it has plenty of names.
Then, a county court, Lagmanssretten.
And then the supreme court, Høyesterett.
