Quirks in Firefox or is there a problem with something else?

Asked by ShanEnri (4429points) July 29th, 2009

As you may know I had some problems with IE8 and downloaded firefox and my problems went away. Except for 1, but maybe 2. When I try to install adobe flashplayer it won’t do anything. Is this a common problem? I don’t think I was able to download quicktime either, but not sure on that one.

You’ll have to be more specific when you say “it won’t do anything”.

Please let us know what version of Windows you’re running as well, and also your Firefox version (Click Help, then About).

By “it won’t do anything”, do you mean it says it can’t find the plug-in? In that case, I always have that issue, so I think it must be a Firefox problem. You have to download Flash Player and use the installer – http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

Same with QuickTime…just download it from the Apple site and install it to your computer.

I’m on Vista, firefox 3.5.1, and when I say it won’t do anything I mean it won’t do anything! The run window doesn’t come up. Just a flash and that’s it. I know it’s not downloaded because I have the same problem again, that I need to download adobe flashplayer.

In excruciating detail, please explain what happens. What you click, what messages appear, etc.

OK. I click the download button for the firefox browser. A window pops up to save the file I save it. Then a window flashes, like maybe it’s the run/save window, but it’s not up long enough to see. Then nothing!

Does the file download? Have you checked to see if the file is on your hard drive?

Actually I got it. I guess I had to get out of firefox, then download the files that I saved! At least that’s what I did and it worked! Thanks and much lurve to all!

Yeah you can’t install plugins when the software that is using it is open (eg firefox can’t be open when installing flash). Glad it works.
