Has anyone had a Great Dane as a pet?

I’m thinking about adopting a Great Dane, and would love to hear any Flutherites experiences with Great Danes.

What are their personalities like (in general)?
How much do they eat?
How much exercise do they need?
Would they work well in a large apartment?
How are they with other dogs?
etc.

Any advice/stories/experiences would be helpful.
