Task managers for iPod touch?

Asked by trahelyk (32points) July 31st, 2009

What do you guys like for task managers for the iPod touch? I have a 1G, and intermittent access to Wi-Fi, so the ability to use it offline is key, although I suppose syncing to a Web site might be helpful. So far I haven’t loved anything I’ve found in the app store, and there are so many choices it’s a bit overwhelming to try them all.

If you mean like to-do managers instead of process managers… try Remember The Milk. They have a free web interface, the native app is 25/year though for a premium account. I think it’d be worth it. It’s an awesome service.

You could use Evernote

The app Things is pretty good. I havn’t actually used the iPhone version but I have tried the desktop one and it is great. Apple always has it featured in the App Store and I have heard many good things about it. Another great thing is that it will sync with the desktop version (if you have it) and it has a delicious UI (User Interface). It’s a bit pricey for 9.99$ but you will see great feed back in the reviews. Take a look.

I’m a fan of Evernote. The “Favorites” part lets you use it offline, and it syncs well. Plus, the desktop interfaces are good.

Try even using the notes app built right in. That’s what I do, but maybe I’m just old school.

I use Evernote for things I plan to keep. In addition, having all the info synced automatically and available on the web is a big plus for me. But one of the best points in its favor is that in adddition to text notes, it can also handle snapshots, saved photos and voice memos. I don’t know of any other app that has that much functionality. Plus, it’s free.

For quickly jotting down temporary notes like shopping lists or an address or phone no. and such not, I also use XL Notes which is also free. I’m not sure if it syncs, but for me that’s irrelevant since it’s all stuff that will be soon be erased.

Lately I’ve been using Evernote to clip each installment of Cory Doctorow’s Makers, so now it stores ebooks, too :) Readable on my iPod or at my computer.

My new personal favorite is called Put Things Off. extremely simple and has none of the extra clutter as other apps do. The dev is supposedly working on creating a webapp that you can sync it with.
