How come Pops and Fruit Loops cereals use different bags than most cereals?

Most cereals come in see through plastic bags, but Pops and (lately) Fruit Loops don’t. They come in waxy, foil-y, non-see through bags. Anyone know why this is?
I think Smacks might be the same waxy kind of bag, but I don’t remember.

AH i always wondered this! i personally dont like that packaging that pops uses. its weird to touch. like syrofoam EW. but to answer WHY they use it, i have no idea
Probably because the preservatives or dyes would eat through normal paper, so they need something stronger???
@chelseababyy I always wondered why they had different packaging.
@justn It all makes sense now :]
@chelseababyy – thanks for that, one less thing to worry about today!
For those who don’t feel like clicking the link above:
Those cereals are puffed grain, as opposed to most others which are pressed grain. Puffed grain cereals are sugar glazed, so if they are left in even a slightly humid environment, the pieces stick together. A foil-lined bag keeps the moisture out so that the cereal pieces don’t stick.
@Allie- Where are you getting your Fruit Loops? Mine are in the regular translucent plastic bag.
@AstroChuck Safeway. Mine used to come in regular plastic bags until this box. This is the first I’ve seen with the foil bag.
I’m wondering why as well. They annoy the crap out of me. They feel so gross. ):
Golden Grahams used to come in those foil ones too. I don’t know why they don’t anymore.
@chelseababyy : Awesome find.
@chelseababyy Thanks for that link, reminded me I haven’t had Smacks in a long time…yum! I will be buying those my next shopping trip. I don’t think I have ever seen so many GA’s :).
@JLeslie For serious. Most lurve I’ve ever gotten on one answer. I’m quite proud, ahha.
I think this is the most GQs I’ve ever gotten also.
Golden Grahams got that foily bag too!
