What is the educational price for Windows 7?

Asked by UTChris (69points) August 2nd, 2009

I know Microsoft has been releasing pricing information for Windows 7 recently, such as the “family pack” for $149.99. Have they announced the price for students/teachers through sites such as JourneyEd, Academic Superstore, or campus computer stores yet?

Your best bet might be going through your school. A lot of schools sign deals with Microsoft that give you a crazy discount. I got XP for 5 bucks at the University of Oregon computing center.

$29,- for Vista Ultimate x64 users I hope?

Our computer store doesn’t give much of a discount, for Vista it was on par with the sites I listed, but still cheaper than retail. Since I’ve been using the Beta and RC, Microsoft e-mailed me a survey which hinted at a $29 price point, but I didn’t know if that has become official yet.

Our school has Vista for like $80. Eh.

It might be $30 to try and compete with Snow Leopard since that is officially $30 (and there are pre-orders now). This is all that’s official for win7: http://www.microsoftstore.com/s/windows7?WT.mc_id=pointitsem_win7_buy&WT.srch=1
