Procrastination. Typically, avoiding writing when I should be writing. It’s pretty lame.
I also wash my hands a lot, but I’m not insane.
yet.
Procrastination is a great one. Why do you think I’m on Fluther?
Talking too much sometimes.
Past: Nail biting. but I stopped that
Current: Procrastination. but I’m getting so much better at it. I’ll beat it soon.
Future: Perpetually cranky. I just know I’m gonna be one of those old carmudgeons.
My past worst habit was smoking. As of Tuesday, it will be 6 weeks as a non-smoker!
@mattbrowne It is not how much you talk, but how much sense you talk.
@cprevite I like the future one! I will be too, if only because the idea of old age does not sit well with me. I hope to die before I need a colostomy bag and a carer to feed and shower me.
@jamielynn2328 Good effort!
Nail biter until I retired.
Tobacco smoker nearly 40 years (first cigarettes, then mini cigarillos, about equal duration, with ten month break in-between).
There are several other “things” I do often and routinely, that others might consider habits. but I consider them just an aspect of living.
@whatthefluther Thanks. Do you still smoke? Is there a relationship between nail biting and your career?
Past: twitching, coughing, ticcing in other ways. Now: procrastination.
I used smokeless tobacco products for 23 years. Giving up that nasty habit was one of the smartest and healthiest decisions I have ever made.
Self-sabotaging thoughts and behaviors, of which procrastination is the least of them.
My brain constantly bombards me with messages on how old, ugly, fat, immature, “needy”, worthless, etc.,etc. I am. Though I know that’s none of it is true, I behave as though all of it is true. I won’t ask out men I find attractive, or share my sketches or film ideas with anyone, or go anywhere where I might end up being the center of attention. I’m terrified of what will happen if I start treating myself as though I’m worth something.
I actually got pulled aside yesterday by someone I barely know who who insisted that I stop putting myself down. I didn’t realize it was that obvious.
@cprevite just remember, curmedgeonliness is an art form. There’s more to it than just being grumpy. I’ve got a pretty good start on it, so if you need lessons, just ask. =)
My worst habit, past or present, isn’t anything I do, per se, as in smoking, or swearing, belching, farting, or laughing at inappropriate times, (all things I do on a regular basis and am not ashamed of) my worst habit is trusting people too much.
Too often I have shown trust to people I have just met, taking them at their word, and then finding out later that they are effing lying, cheating, rotten, or just plain crooked bastards. I need to learn to make sure people are who they say they are, before I open myself up to them.
@jamielynn2328 – contratulations!! keep it up!!!
@Bluefreedom – Wise choice my friend!
My worse habit was sneaking soda. Still is. I have to work on it.
Smoking… which is made worse by my procrastination. Haven’t gotten around to quitting yet, although I want to.
Me? I have no bad habits. ;-) (I know, I can go to hell for lying, LOL)
I have the habit of starting out saying something, & then stopping mid sentence to switch gears & go off in another direction. It drives my husband crazy.
To all tobacco quitters…good for you!

Definitely procrastination. I get easily sidetracked.
Knowing something is wrong and still doing it anyway. It’s a horrible habit of mine.
@snail – You keep posting this website on fluther. I’ve seen it on at least two other questions. If you have a book suggestion, please give a link to the specific book or put the title and author in your response. Otherwise, it just looks like you’re spamming the boards. Which I hope isn’t true.
Nail biting,
Talking too much,
Laughing wierd,
Talking back sometimes,
Sneaking food,
Coughing loudly :P
@FireMadeFlesh…....Yes, I do still smoke the cigarillos (imported from Denmark, Germany, Switzerland) but only a few per day.
I was in a higher level position with tons of responsibilities covering a very wide area and there was quite a bit of stress. Over the years, I had been able to reduce the nail biting, but the absence of job stresses allowed me to stop it completely.
Biting my nails. Being impatient for things in the future to happen. Not being able to express my feelings to certain people. Not being able to let go of the past.
Cracking my knuckles and neck.
Crack, arm dope, pills, cigs, risk taking.
