My wife is due to have a baby boy this month. What are you ideas for good baby names for a baby boy? We like names that are a little more unique but not weird (example: we like Jonas and Finn)?

Moon Zappa…Oh no, wait a sec…that one is already taken. How about Huckleberry (goes well with Finn). And Huck is a great nickname.
Or Steve!
Why not Jonas Finn? Or do you already have offspring by those names? Whatever you choose, make sure it is easy to spell, and pronounced exactly the way it is spelled.
Here is a compilation of unique baby names for you to look through.
I like Anglo-Celtic names: Ian (or Euan), Kieran, Reece (or Rhys, if you’re Welsh), Graeme, Aidan, Fraser, Morgan
Go back in time and find some names from the 1920’s or so. Like Elmer, Jesse, Lester, Hugh, Clyde, Floyd, Woodrow or Cecil.
My nephews name is Phalen. I like names like Chase or Chance!
‘5’ if you’re a Charlie Brown fan.
You can also check some more baby names from different years.
Right here.
Denise, if it’s a girl.
If it’s a boy, Denephew
I thought of some more..
Oliver
Oscar
Theo
Seth
Milo
Hellhammer
Count Grishnackh
Quorthon
Eddie
The Social Security Administration’s list of baby names is my favorite resource for American-based names of any period since 1879. You can seek out the popular ones or avoid them using various sort criteria.
If you favor names of some particular national or language origin, you can Google them by ethnicity and sex.
What’s your last name? If it’s Hunt, I’d totally go with Mike
“tetsuo”
or “kaneda”
i like “chiaki”
Kyle! Kyle is a good name!
or how about
wolfgang
alois
achim
johann
bertolt
ludwig
wilhelm
ferdinand
norbert
marcel
jürgen
@loser soft names make soft people ;)
@teh_kvlt_liberal
and psychopath names like “Hellhammer
Count Grishnackh
Quorthon
Eddie”
make..
the parents probably hate music.
Yeah I was totally serious when I typed that
What is your last name? We should know that before suggesting.
to Simone_De_Beauvoir:
...if it’s a boy.
to Russter:
Dario
Names are so personal… You’ll never please everyone. It’s important to think about what the initials of the first, middle and last names spell. Also, think about creative possibilities for harassment from grade school classmates that are name based. For example, I have a nephew, now grown, named Jedidiah. If his parents had realized he would be tormented as “Jedi-diarrhea”, they might have chosen a different name.
Other names to avoid:
Lucifer
Adolph
Peyton.
@ragingloli I see there’s another Akira fan in the house…
My grand kids are Jude, Liam and Rees. I think they’re all great. My son is Landon, but it was not a common name at all when he was born. I tell him that he was such a cute little kid that all the parents started naming their kids that. (he’s 25 now.)
Cash, Carson, Potter, and Felix are awesome names. 8D
Rufus
::EDIT:: dammit @Allie
Monkeyman McBanana?
Phineas and Ferb!
Richard Henry?
Caleb
Logan
Hayden
Eilas
Malcom
Jace
Sodapop and Ponyboy are awesome names too. 8D
It is kind of hard to answer without knowing your last name. Some names just don’t sound good together. Still, my suggestion would be Cavan or Mason.
@Supacase ; Cavan will get teased and called “cave man.”
@Judi Maybe. I know a boy named Cavan and no one has been clever enough to come up with that one yet. lol It is a short “a” so that may help throw the bullies for a loop.
Dayton
Bryson
Cole
Collin
Dante
Xander
Tegan
@chelseababyy stop naming people who work at Abercrombie and Fitch.
@chelseababyy Sorry random question: Do you listen to Tegan and Sara?
Kantaro (Japanese, but I love it)
James
Aidan
Kasheem
Montez
Aydrian
My son’s name is Landon. It is gentle, yet unique. I love it so much.
I guess Landon means “a long road.” Something I tease my son about all the time. :-)
Nothing gentle about my Landon!!

Those names are going out of style, but I lurve them anyway. c:
How about “Whatshouldwenameourbaby” .... well I think it’s nice….

Seven – Seinfeld reference for any fans out there.
@RandomMrdan It could also be a Marred… With Children reference.
What about Buster or Butch?
why not just name him Jordache and prepare him for a life of gay jokes now?
@AstroChuck – Howzabout Jethro Q. Walrustitty? Or Johann Gambolputty de von Ausfern-schplenden-schlitter-crasscrenbon-fried-digger-dingle-dangle-dongle-dungle…
…right, I’ll stop.
Lion-o , Panthro , Snarf , Amy , Boab . Just a few you could consider
You could call him , Fluther
Oh i didn’t read anything above mine , if any name i have said is duplicate am sorry
@AstroChuck No, it’s “it” now. Oh, I said it! Curse my acid tongue. I said it again! And again…
I’m not sure @Russter likes any of the above suggestions. He hasn’t come back. We may have scared him off.
Lucas, Buck, Lennert, Ross, Jonathan, Jeremy, Jim
As long as Yoko doesn’t try to sue, Lennon’s a good first name, I think.
Sorry, I’ve been gone for a while. There are some good names here. Our last name is Hansen, if that helps any. We’ll keep you posted on what name we decide on.
Here are some more:
Gabriel
Rafe
Damien
Raphael
My daughter suggests:
Fredward
Benjamin
Oliver
The name you’d love to tooooouch! But you musn’t toooooouch!
@sandystrachan exactly. there’s 3 ways to do things: the right way, the wrong way, and the Max Power way
Billy, Richard (RIch) Alex, Anthony, Darran, Martin, Tommy, Bernard, Ken, Mark, Andrew, Geoff, Geoffrey, Alan, Roland, William, Gearad, Barry, Jamie, James, Matthew, Ray, Ian, Andy, Christopher, Ollie, Dylan, Thomas, are just a few family and friends names.

How about Jonah Ray
@sakura At my work there’s these brothers whose names are Jonah and Noah…funny that you mentioned them..lol
Wife and I are are in a similar situation. We find out next week if it’s a boy or girl.
Our curent list of boy names include:
Charlie
Oscar
Henry
Isra
Marley
Oliver
Xavier
Daniel
Keats
Finley
and Jack
Best of luck with the decision!
I like Jonas too – might add that to the list!
Just refer to it as “you”. that way, s/he can develop his/her own personality.
My wife just reminded me why Jonas might not be that great after all.
@kalafatic – I have a grandson named Jonas. And, no. He was not named for any of them.
@AstroChuck No disrespect to your grandson, but the name carries a little baggage for me these days. And as my dad is also named Chuck, I think that Charlie is a better choice:)
Charlie is my dad’s name as well.
A friend of my niece named their son Jack Danger. Yes, Danger is his middle name.
well part of the reason we like the name Jonas is that it’s a common norwegian name—and he’ll have a lot of norwegian heritage. We really don’t like the relation to the jonas brothers at all… but we’re hoping they’ll phase out quickly. What do you think?
and just FYI on the baby update, my wife should have the baby any day now
I have a friend that just named their son Viking – there’s a Norwegian name for you. Best wishes on the impending arrival!
Why don’t you go for Kurt Hansen, that sounds pretty norwegian to me :)
Hey, this question was asked a month ago. What did the name end up being?
