The key is not to stress because that will only aggravate any problem, you should watch a real life surgery at heartbypass.org/robotic-heart-bypass-surgery-video.php. It should help you understand the situation more and hopefully calm your nerves
There are PLENTY of alternatives. Eat right, exercise, have routine physicals including blood pressure monitoring and blood tests… The list goes on.
My own family history on BOTH sides has leg amputations related to diabetes. My mother lost 2, my father 1, uncles, even my grandmother. I HAVE to watch what I eat and exercise. That’s all you can do and it WILL work if it’s not too late.
Don’t give up trying to fix things!!!
Quagmire gives excellent advice. If however, you already need the surgery, there aren’t alternatives that I know of. There are stents or is it stints? but the few people I know that had stents done ended up having bypass anyway.
If you’re worried about the surgery, talk to your doctor. Or talk to other people who have been through it. I’m not trying to diminsh your concerns, just know that heart bypass is very common and you should be fine.
Take control of your diet and exercise NOW. Don’t wait until a doctor says surgery is necessary.
Look into reversing arteriosclerosis. Consider getting an evaluation and getting under the care of a cardiologist in advance. But shop around and find the right one.
In some cases, bypasses are the only option, but in other cases they do not provide longer mortality than medication, diet and exercise. Whether it is necessary depends on which vessel is blocked. You need to really do your homework.
Start with information from the famed Cleveland Clinic,
Yes, there is a very common alternative: stents. They are usually put in through a catheter inserted in the groin, so the surgery is much less major. Whether stenting is an option depends on the severity of disease, number of vessels involved, etc.
In terms of prevention, diet and exercise are very important, but if you do have high cholesterol it’s likely you’ll require medication to control it (especially important with a strong family history).
You might want to check out ‘Garlic and Hawthorn’ pills and ubiquinone.
In my diet class tonight they quoted a sdtudy that said 70% of heart disease deaths were due to lifestyle. Only 10% were herititary.
