Have you experienced a perfect moment out of time that changed the complexion of your day?
Today, while walking our dogs on a trail through the greenbelt, my husband and I spotted a deer on a side trail coming toward us. We stopped and looked at the deer, and she looked at us.
Suddenly, without even thinking about it, I sang “Do, a deer, a female deer.” My husband joined in with the harmony, and we sang the whole song while the deer watched us unblinking and unmoving, obviously listening.
Then, we turned and went back homeward on the trail. The deer never bounded away. It was just a perfect moment of confluence. I felt so uplifted afterwards. I am still smiling writing this.
Has a special moment changed your day? If so, will you share it?

‘Viva la Vida by Coldplay came on the radio this morning and I realised that if God does exist I could understand that he would feel this way. It stopped me being so bloody judgemental and put things in perspective.
your story was really cute!
i’ve surely had little experiences in the day that were complete turn of events. i can’t think of specific ones right now, but even nice weather can turn everything around.

it’s like that fmylife website, but for good things. little seemingly insignificant events that change the way the day is going, or perspectives.
Not to sound sappy or stupid, but the first time my [new] boyfriend and I kissed. It was probably the most intense moment of my life so far.
lol I don’t know what I’d think if I saw two people staring into the woods singing about deer to be honest….
When I first applied to boston college I was rejected because though my test scores were through the roof everything else was stuck in the basement. So I appealed the rejection and had to meet the Dean of Admissions to try and convince him I’m not what he had initially thought.
I’ve never been so nervous in my entire life… but god damn I nailed that interview.
Too many to mention here.
Great question. I’ve had several “magic moments” but it’s little things that do it. For example, I remember this one time not too long ago on a Sunday driving to Pacific Bell Park (Home of the SF Giants) with my wife and daughter and for this one moment this feeling hit me. It was just this perfect moment and it filled me with joy. I was with those I loved more than anything else in the world, it was a beautiful sunny day, and everyone was happy and looking forward the events to come. I turned to my wife beside me, smiled and said, “This is one of those moments.” She knew exactly what I meant and smiled back.
It’s these little moments that I often look back on along side the big events such as the birth of my kids or the first time I kissed my wife. It sounds corny and cliché as hell but these little moments are what make life so wonderful.
The last time I was PMS-ing and pissy and stressed at work (I’m a nanny) I had sent one of my 5 year old munchkins to time out. In retrospect, I was probably the one who needed the time out. A while after he got out of TO, he climbed into my lap and said “I love you, even when I’m angry with you,” which is exactly what I say to them. It was suddenly a whole new day. :)
My answer from a question about feeling close to nature:
I had an appointment in a town I’d never been to, and had to bring the girls along. We arrived very early and rather than have them bored out of their minds sitting in a waiting area forever, we explored a little. We found a lovely pond, bordered by a small wooded area and decided to hang out there for a while. While walking through the woods, we came upon a large circle of damp soil upon which hundreds of butterflies were resting. We crept up to the edge of the circle, marveling at finding such a thing. We crouched to get a closer look, and they suddenly started flying up and around us. As we stood, it was like being in the middle of a tiny butterfly tornado. The joy that moment brought all of us is nearly indescribable. As we had obviously disturbed their environment, we only stayed a moment or two before respectfully backing away and watching them return to their rest. Just thinking about it now brings a smile to my face. :)
@Marina I was thinking the same of your moment. :)
