Dogs are intelligent no matter what an IQ test says.
You can often tell by observation. some dogs are just plain stupid, and it shows. Others are too smart for their own good. Mine is an escape artist and it could have gotten him killed before I got him. I have a double fence to keep him in.
One of the great things about dogs is that it is never necessary to know their IQ.
What do you think you are measuring when you measure IQ? First we must define what intelligence in dogs means, or should mean, and then we must devise a way to measure it. A squirrel, if it is tied to a leash and gets wrapped around a pole will back up and untangle itself; a dog won’t. Is the squirrel more intelligent? We have a lot of defining of terms to do before we can devise an objective test.
Dog’s IQs are definitely way lower than cat’s IQs.
Here are a couple of tests:
Take a large towel or blanket and gently place it over your dog’s head. If he frees himself from the towel in less than 15 seconds, give him 3 points. If it takes 15–30 seconds, 2 points. Longer than 30 seconds earns 1 point.
Place a dog treat or a favorite toy under one of three buckets placed next to each other. Let the dog know which bucket the treat is under, than turn the dog away for a few seconds. Then, let her find the treat. If she immediately goes to the correct bucket give her 3 points. If she takes two attempts, score 2 points. If your dog looks under the other two buckets first, score 1 point.
Place a treat under a table or chair low enough so your dog can only fit her paw and cannot fit her head. If your dog figures how to reach the treat within one minute, score 3 points. If she uses her paws and nose, score 2 points. If your dog gives up, score 1 point.

Have fun. I got a cat btw and I agree with @Zendo !
@mattbrowne Then there’s the dog that just sits there and waits for the other dog to get the treats, then takes it away. I had one like that a while back.
Milo here; Don’t waste your time.
