What caused the scar on Tina Fey's face?

Asked by fortune425 (58points) August 9th, 2009

I was watching an old episode of Saturday Night Live on E! and noticed that Tina Fey has a scar around mouth on the left side of her face.

She discussed it in an interview last December. She was slashed by a stranger while playing outside when she was a young child.

A stranger slashed her face when she was 5.

It doesn’t look bad – my cousin went through a windshield when she was 17 and has a big X across her face, and my nephew was bitten by a dog when he was three and always looks like he has a pillow crease right across the center of his face.

And actually enough celebrities have scars that there is even a site that explains where they came from.

It’s a shame what happened to her. I know she grew up in Upper Darby, and I know that area well. That sort of thing isn’t really shocking there. :(

i was hoping it was a whip lash, like Indiana Jones. she’s cool like that.

My wife and I used to wonder about this all the time when she did the Weekend Update, and we couldn’t find anything about it other than “she refuses to talk about it.” It wasn’t until the article referenced above when she actually came out with what happened. I figured it was probably something like a dog bite…when I heard what it really was, I could understand why she wouldn’t want to talk about it.

@Darwin That’s the site of my old dermatologist who lives in San Francisco!
