If people knew how to expect volatility on any stock, wouldn’t we all be rich right now?

Volatility in points or volatility measured as a percentage of price?

@PerryDolia – Based on pretty much nothing, I’m going to guess volatility in the price. Although some people use the term volatility when they really mean volume of shares (or currencies) traded during a session. fbuffino certainly needs to clarify that.

@drdoombot – Exactly. My hunch (and possibly yours) is this person is planning to use options, and needs a big enough swing to profit regardless of direction. If any of us knew how to predict volatility of specific stocks accurately, some simple puts/calls would make us rich with little effort.

Irrelevant in any case, as the markets are now open and we haven’t heard back from our new friend.
