So i am finally making the switch from a PC to mac. i couldn’t justify spending a lot of money when my computer was working fine, but now my pc has a crazy virus i can’t get rid of. I don’t have a lot of money to spend, id like to spend no more than 1500. i want something with a decent size screen, lots of memory, and fast when i’m on the internet. i mostly word process (i’m a student) and do photo editing.
ideas???

@aligator – Hey welcome to Fluther! Were you thinking Desktop or Laptop?
I will soon be getting a Mac Mini.
The main reason is because this leaves me with a much wider choice of monitors
The main reason I won’t be getting a Macbook laptop is because I read that they all have the shiny type of monitor without any option of different.
Personally I think they are horrible. That’s just my two cents.
If you want a Mac laptop, and your budget is $1500, you’re looking at the 13-inch MacBook for $999 or one of the 13-inch MacBook Pros (for $1199 or $1499 depending on processor speed and installed memory).
I was advised by my fellow jellies to get the macbook pro, here
Also, if you are offered a “free” printer, make sure to ask for the USB cord that comes with it.
what’s the difference between the macbook and the macbook pro??
There is no longer a Macbook, Apple doesn’t sell aluminum Macbook’s anymore. They’re all Macbook Pro’s. Except the older white one of course.
Put it this way, if you want to browse the internet, listen to music, watch movies, etc, The 13” Macbook Pro’s have a very blah video card, including the cheapest 15” but will do what you want them to do.
