When a parent is driving with their teen on the wheel who has a permit, can a younger sibling sit in the back seat?

I would imagine that would depend on the state (or province). I’m not certain but I think it would be okay here in California.

According to this, anyone can ride, as long as they wear seat belts.

as long as there is a responsible sober adult in the passenger seat, it is ok. drive carefully!

I wouldn’t do it. Let your teen learn with you at his side with 100% attention on him.

Usually the rule is to have a driver 25 and older supervising. It doesn’t have to be a parent.That’s how it was for me.It might have been 21

According to the IL driving manual Number of passengers limited to one in the front seat and the number of safety belts in the back seat.

There are a different set of guidelines depending on the age and experience of the driver, so be sure to read the book.
