All four of us are obsessed with taking vitamins. It’s truly comical as we have family get togethers and me and my brothers are comparing vitamins, swapping them and making notes on new ones to get.
Alcoholism, half-wittedness, arrogance, crankiness, strong immune systems

Twins, big boobs and hips, and a love for reading :)
Both of my pinky fingers are slightly bent at the end.
Almost everyone in my family over the age of 60 has diabetes. We have heart issues, kidney issues and alcoholism.
And interestingly enough, an aversion toward reading. Except for my brothers and myself, everyone in my extended family looks at reading as if it’s the most wasteful habit a person can have.
@IBERnineD are you trying to slay me tonight, lol?
Norwegian and Scottish Blood
Psychiatric issues: depression, trichotillomania, anxiety disorders- Only in the women
Health wise: diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, various cancers My grandfather was apparently one of the first with a certain type of cancer. My grandmother says they wrote about him all the time…She doesn’t know the type of cancer though, so I can’t figure it out. Allergies.
Personality wise: Mothers side-Holds grudges like no other. Will remember anything you say, even if it was twenty years ago. Tormenting family members by embarrassing them. Irrationality.
My father’s side: There’s a problem? Nah, just ignore it..it’ll go away. Laid-backness. Hockey fanatics.
Lucky for me, great skin runs in the family. And bone structure. So, it’s not all bad.
Diarrhea from time to time.
Usually the refrigerator; occasionally the car.
Senses of humor. Well, humour in the case of our Canadian relatives.
@AstroChuck you always make me laugh
@Simone_De_Beauvoir Hardly, simply the truth! My dad was a twin and it skips generations, my sisters and I all are “chesty”, and the amount of books everyone in my family owns, put together, would create an unimaginable fire hazard.
Height and flash tempers.
@IBERnineD oh yes I believe you, it’s all very very good
Alcoholism, rabid Christianity, and a love for sports and a hatred of history. Makes me think I am adopted, as I don’t drink, I’m an atheist, I hate sports and I love reading history.
Oh yeah, mediocrity, fiercely uncontrollable anger and and male pattern baldness also run in my family.
Interest in languages, travel, and other countries, heart disease, a love of lame axioms, anal retentiveness about grammar and pronunciation, a love of the outdoors, stubbornness, high self-esteem, Catholicism, etc.
Inability to stay warm, alcoholism, and the ability to make fun of any situation.
Cancer, alcoholism, depression, obesity, musical talent, and excellent vision. For these things I appear to be a complete genetic outlier.
A few of the things I have inherited are the need to go to the bathroom whenever I enter a bookstore, superstition, a dark sense of humor and a love for the medical field.

Being tall. I’m a throwback at 5 foot nuthin. :(
Diabetes, dark humor, musical talent and some homosexuality.
@Simone_De_Beauvoir I love this question! :)
What runs in my familie? Well, i’d say the athletic people.
@XOIIO – That would be who runs in your family.
As far as my family is concerned, depression, obesity, a love of good food, strokes, skin cancer, Fuch’s Dystrophy, Sjogren’s Syndrome, and thyroids that poop out. We also seem to belong to various unpopular religions, including Quaker, Unitarian, and Judaism.
I was going to say a river but there’s a drought on.
The ability to worry about the silliest issues in the world; however, we possess the ability, in a major crisis, to be the calming voice, the voice of reason. In other words, don’t get us started about the correct seating chart for the relatives at the dinner table, but if there is some kind of national disaster, we’ll guide you through it. ;~)
Cancer
Alcoholism
Bipolar
Leukemia
ALS – 3rd and 4th family members diagnosed just this year.
The ability to continually change the rules at uno until no one knows who is winning or losing. We just know we’re having fun. Mostly the women in the family…we scare the men in our family!
tempers, emotions, and alzheimer’s disease
From my mother: insanity, the inability to do math well, breast cancer, arthritis, psoriasis, fat thighs, sarcasm and morbid humor, creativity in all arts.
From my dad (not his side of that family because I never met any of them, they all died): nerdiness, self-depricating sense of humor, almond shaped eyes, hard working.
Let’s see, twins, I am a twin, mental illness, didn’t miss me.
Lung cancer, cervical cancer, breast cancer, scared that one will get me, drug abuse, well, there is more, but that is all I can think of.
A lot of sarcasm runs in my family. (Along with some angst if the sarcasm doesn’t come across well).
Black curly hair, loud voices, cancer and heart disease.
blonde hair and blue eyes, tiny littles toes and big second toes, and the girls…crying loads when it’s that time of month!!!
Being, unnecessarily loud, perma-frown, Sarcasm, dirty jokes and my sister inherited being a whiny little girl from my dad

Maybe it’s because i just woke up, but, even after reading all the replies, i seriously can not find one thing that runs in my family…
A lot of alcoholism in the above stated. I’m surprised/shocked about that.
ps. If such running-in-the-family-thing comes to mind, i’ll let you know.
Insane creativity (my dad quit a good paying job to become a professional puppeteer); depression (goes with creativity, I think); the ability to do funny voices and a variety of accents (I do a pretty convincing Professor McGonagall); and blue eyes.
auto immune disease, blue eyes and the need to keep the surface of chip dip smooth while dipping.
Alcoholism, cancer (mostly skin), irresponsibility I hope to break this one, a desire to please no matter how much it puts us out!

Huntington disease, racism, alchoolics, gifted with children*non perverted*, spending time in prison, and split personality disorder and strict belief in the motto cheat lie and steal to win
A lack of pseudocholinesterase, which is a natural enzyme in most people’s bodies that counteracts the effects of succinylcholine, a somewhat common muscle relaxer used as anaesthesia for many surgeries.
My sister’s body failed to come out of the induced paralysis for many hours after her mind came awake. She had to listen to the doctors as they considered pulling the plug on her and declaring death.
@augustlan Yes, it did suck for my sister, but her (almost) sacrifice may have saved my mother’s life a year later when she broke her hip. My sister was adamant that the doctors test my mother for the genetic condition, which they eventually did just prior to surgery. It turned out that she was also affected, so they chose a different anaesthetic.
Narcissism and self-doubt; try it some time; it’s a winning combination!
@janbb
Oh you know my mother..
Your all’s mom sure gets around.
Being nosy, a little bump on the top of the nose, girls (I only have one male cousin, the rest are girls), full lips, impatience.
Perfectionism, correcting other people’s mistakes, a fierce thirst for knowledge…...and heart disease and cancer.
@Shuttle128 The way you wrote that made me think that the first is somehow correlated with the last. I do hope that’s not the case.
It’s entirely possible, though I’ve found no evidence to suggest this.
My entire family also grinds their teeth in their sleep…..that could be the link…..
As of this week, vertigo. I was hoping it was one of my father’s traits that I wouldn’t inherit, but sadly that is not the case.
Ouch!
@aprilsimnel – At least the dogs like it when I am sprawled out on the floor.
@Darwin Vertigo sucks. Do you think it might be labyrinthitus? There’s a pill called antivert for motion sickness that can help.
@janbb – Don’t know what it is at this point. However, my father, grandfather, and great grandfather all have/had Meniere’s disease so it could be that. In any case, Bonine (Meclazine, 25 mg) helps.
Antivert is meclizine too; glad it helps. Feel better soon!
The men are stubborn. The women tend to be true nurturers and are stronger emotionally. Humor for both the men and women.
