Apparently made a threat against the white house and had warrants out, they trapped him in. Been going on since 10am. It’s 5pm.

How do the police handle these situations? What’s involved that it takes so long.

Absolutely nothing appears to be going on. The cars surrounding the red VW are empty. Supposedly the suspect is inside the VW. Maybe it’s like a siege and they are waiting for the suspect to come out. Perhaps the suspect is armed and no one wants to risk the life of an officer or the suspect by going in after him (assuming it’s “him”). I know nothing about police protocol and procedure, but it seems like sooner or later he has to come out.

Well, it’s over now apparently. Presumably the cops figured he might have a bomb or come out shooting if they messed with him, so they bombarded him with tear gas.

Apparently he “has issues when he goes off his meds.”

Our news report showed a very interesting use of the explosives robot thingy. The sent it around the car to have a look inside.

@YARNLADY – Apparently they also used it to stick the tear gas canisters inside the car.

@Darwin That must be right about where our report cut off and I went to fix dinner.
