Spoiler alert.
I read a book to my kids a while ago (about five years) and I cant remember what the book is called. Its about two boys who find a alien puddle jumper like space craft that speaks latin, Is fueled by water and can turn invisible. Im just wondering becuase I was going to read it to my nephew. And the last words in the book are UP.
And there is another book about a group of human colonist who go to another world because earth is running out of room. But when they get to their new planet everything that grows there is made out of glass. And as such they cant grow crops. I dont is remember the ending except that it somehow joins up with the beginning.

Sorry, don’t know either of them, but they sound interesting. Will follow the thread so maybe I can read them myself.
I’m not familiar with either of those plotlines, but it might help if you add a bit more detail…
What age ranges are the books intended for?
Are they picture books? (if so, can you describe the artwork/style)
Around what time period do you think the stories were written and/or took place?
Were the characters from the USA or another country?
Do you recall either story being tied into a movie or TV show or a series of books?
I hope Fluther can help you out!
I can’t help you if it is a children’s book, but there are some science fiction novels involving planets with silicon-based life. Two such are:
Uller Uprising, novel by H. Beam Piper (Twayne, 1952). Uller, a colonized planet with silicon-based life forms, is in the Beta Hydri system.
Sentenced to Prism, novel by Alan Dean Foster (1985),
