First of all. NO IE bashing till I get a real answer, then you can talk about it all you want.
I tried Safari and Firefox and they are both way faster than IE. Why? Isn’t it all just Internet? Correct me if I’m wrong please.
Now I am free to say it sucks!!

Because it’s shitty honestly. Internet Explorer is a baseline amenity with computers. It’s like the free anti-virus software you get when you buy a new laptop – it works for about 3 days and then it’s just straight shitty from there. I use Google Chrome and it’s fabulous. Go to google.com/chrome to get it. Anyways, no, it’s not all the same. It’s like having a shitty flip phone, a more sophisticated phone, and then for instance an HTC Touch Pro. There are levels of excellence. Internet Explorer is the baseline stuff for everyone—those who choose to not soar higher, lol!
Because of add-ons and such like , it is also very buggy and lets in so many pop-ups and porn links along with virus. Thus making it crap if you want to fix IE this may help personally i don’t see why you would do that stick to firefox , why do people still use IE and not learn about the many other great faster things out there .
Speed is not the reason I don’t use it.
How fast a computer program is dependents on several things. If a program just does one thing, it can be pretty fast. If it has lots of features, it is slower, because it has to make more decisions. Secondly, a program is fast if the code is well written and slow if the code is poorly written.
I have written code that took 3 minutes to run, and after some analysis of my coding rewrote it a bit and it to 10 seconds.
Microsoft really doesn’t write very good code (note all the weekly security updates) and they try to bundle too many features.
@sandystrachan Im not trying to fix it, i just wanted to know why it was slow. It takes like 3 minutes just for the page to open.
Because it’s made by Microsoft.
One of the reasons is the Java engine in IE.
Both Firefox and Chrome implemented a faster way to show java content.
Also IE has a couple of things built in like active X which are not available in Firefox and Chrome.
What could also be a thing that slows down your IE experience is if you have an anti virus program installed that enables java script scanning in IE, then you will notice that it takes a couple of seconds before a page appears on your screen, because it is being checked by your virusscanner.
A clear comparisson is not easy to make, becasue all browsers have their own standard toolset installed which can be enhanced with add-ons.
The more add-ons you have the slower your browser gets.
Eg. if you completely load firefox with add-ons than it will definetely be slower than a standard IE installation.
Sure. I hate the restrictive way IE behaviors regarding certificates for example. Its security features are clunky and intrusive, whereas Firefox really does protect me from annoying pop-ups.
It gives you more time to look at ad’s! You know when you first run IE8 and you get suggested to, by default, use all the failed microsoft services on the planet!
But serious, guess it’s all down to the engine and MS having the monopoly cause they ship it with their OS so they aren’t really into developing any innovative things. IE get’s used no mather how shitty it is, alternative browsers have to work really hard to gain tiny bits of marketshare.
So glad I don’t run IE8, OR Windows!
My mum asked who had been looking at porn on her laptop , she wouldnt listen it was IE’s fault and she should move to firefox . I think now they have moved to firefox and have not noticed any crap now :)
Don’t be snide or make any remark about it was someone looking at porn , you are better than that honestly .
Slowness is the least of Internet Explorer’s problems.
Its because your windows machine is ate up with virus and the speed robbing properties of the protection sofware you stayed up all night installing. Get out of Gatesland while you still can.
LMAO! @mangeons – I’m sorry. I just read that and could not stop laughing!
To be serious, it’s most likely due to the fact that IE is very insecure and it’s probably infected with some sort of virus/spyware/etc.
