Have you made the most of your time on earth, up to this point?

Asked by lukiarobecheck (1526points) August 18th, 2009

I just read a very interesting confession from another site. (linked below) And it made me think about living life to the fullest. I doubt I can say that I have done that in my own life. It is hard too, we get all wrapped up in what comes next instead of just enjoying the now. Any one else feel that way? Or does anyone have a good story to share about a particular moment that you went all out?
Maybe even further, does anyone have good ways to try and do all you can to enjoy the now?

Thanks all in advance.

I think I’ve done more than my fair share. But I still have some more to give, if I can.

Now always becomes then.
Now and then I always find myself two steps forward one step back.
Never getting myself further then where I am now.

I can never do it as fully as I could, but I try very hard to make my days count and to experience the joy of just living.

Isn’t that what we all are doing right now?

Okay, so say I threw in you just found out that you had terminal cancer, as in the link. And say had 3 months to live. All hypothetical of course. Would you feel like you did all you could, saw all you wanted to see, etc…?

I could have done more, but I’ve had fun all the same.

No, but I’ve had a lot of fun!

I definitely think i have. And because of that forever more i am doomed to walk in line. I would think. Dang this line. Now I have cancer while standing in my place.

Nope…and I’m glad I’m inefficient. If I was all about the efficiency, I would have graduated from college in 4 years rather than the 5.5 it took me. I would have known exactly what I wanted to do when I graduated rather than bumming around from job to job to job over the 25 years that followed (I highly recommend it for everybody). I also probably wouldn’t have had those two rugrats who held me back from doing some of the things I would have loved to do in life. And to be honest, I wouldn’t have had my life any other way…

A nightmare for me is being at the pearly gates, and St. Peter saying “More time? Do you know how many times you watched Fight Club? Do you know how much time you wasted on the computer? Do you know how much time you wasted reading those Harry Potter books?”
