What building is this? (San Francisco, SoMa)

Asked by lrk (757points) August 19th, 2009

Hey! So there’s this skyscraper behind the SF MoMA:

(SF MoMA is round building in center, I am referring to the beige building behind it:

What building is this? A street address will suffice, but more information (if the building has a name, if it has any particular history) is even more exciting.

Thanks!

I believe you’re looking at this building. From google maps street view I saw the intersection, used google, and found out it’s the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Building.

@andrew Strong work…

@andrew got it right, it’s the PacBell Building. 140 New Montgomery Street. It’s been vacant for a while as far as I know.

@DominicX Yep—apparently being converted to high-end condos, however.

It is the building where Dilbert (the artist Scott Adams) used to work. I used to go there all the time in the 80s before they moved to the old Post Office.

It was my understanding that Scott Adams was working out of Bishop Ranch in San Ramon, not out of 140 N.M.

@filmfann You could well be right.
