Big hugs and love, CAK! You’re in my thoughts and my heart.
Here’s to Cak having a successful surgery and speedy recovery!!!
Bunches of us are talking to her on FB, but I’ll add my support here, too. You know I love you, honey. Talk to you on the other side. :-)
Good luck, Cak. I know you’ll do fine. Much love your way.
Lots of love for you Cak. I hope you recover quickly and painlessly.
tons of love, hugs, and positive vibes your way cak<33333
Wishing you the very best Cak, now and always. You’re in my thoughts and prayers.
Good luck, Cak. Feel better soon.
We’re all with you in spirit, Cak, with best wishes for an easy recovery and lots of hugs.
Cak; I used to have a friend who, in her eighties, visited me from time to time. In the morning, she’d ask, “Should I be a B cup or a C today?” She had had a double mast. 40 years earlier and had several different-sized forms to stuff in her bra.
I add my love and best wishes and the offer of email addresses of some college friends of mine who are survivors of the same surgery. When and if you’re ready, let me know. Otherwise, it will be bad jokes.
Hugs and strength.
Love to you, cak! You are in my heart. Enjoy the anesthesia.
@Cak, best wishes for a speedy recovery! Hurry back to us.
Cak, good luck and God’s blessings on you! We look forward to your joining us again.
Much love Cak. I’ll be thinking of you tomorrow.
To a rapid recovery. I’ll be thinking of you too.
You are terrific and our thoughts are with you! Have your hubby or a friend get you a couple of small pillows to rest your arms on after the surgery—my friend said the pillows helped her alot!
GET well soon @cak. WE LURVE YOU.
Great Wishes…..
HUGS. :)
I’ll be thinking of you cak!
I am sending my thoughts and best wishes your way during this trying time. Come back real soon.
Best wishes for tomorrow Cak.
Cak, I look forward to you triumphant return to the Fluther fold, happy, healthy and whole with us again. ::hugs::
Take care. I’m thinking good thoughts.
Lots of love and best wishes “Lab Rat!” You’re in my thoughts.
I’ve been thinking of you today and will tomorrow, too, @cak…
I wish steady hands for your surgeons; a speedy recovery and good news from the path lab for you. (((((hugs)))))
Best of wishes and luck, Cak!
The very best of luck to you, Cak. May the operation go smoothly, the surgeons work skillfully, and the drugs make you feel marvelous. We will miss you until you are back online, and I will add you to our prayer circle.
Good luck, Cak! Swift recovery and smooth sailing for the operation. We’ll see you back here in no time.
We’re pulling for ya @cak.
I have been thinking of you since last night (when I heard from leftah).
Please feel better soon. Lots of love and a multi-tentacle hug awaits your return.
Hope it goes well for you, @cak. Hang in there!
Best wishes for a smooth procedure and a speedy recovery. Come back to us soon!
My thoughts and prayers will be with you tomorrow as they are each and every day since the very day we met here. When will “they” ever learn that all the obstacles “they” throw at you are no match for our wonderful, strong and loving, magnificent @cak. Sending lots of love & lurve…Gary aka wtf
God speed a fast recovery!
I will be thinking of you all day tomorrow and sending positive thoughts and prayers your way for as long as it takes to see you to good health again!
Fluther will not be the same till your return.
You are in my heart and mind cak. Love and lurve to you and yours!
Always remember, you are very loved.
Cak, we love you!
Remember not to eat on the table…
Cookie for you!
Don’t tell Tedi or JB, they’‘ll get jealous, but you can always share my cookies. :)
Everyone loves you cak, and how could they not? You are one of the most beloved jellies on this site. From the looks of it, seems everyone is in your corner. I bet twenty people at least would volunteer to undergo the surgery in your place. can I be the first one to volunteer astrochuck?
Cak: We all love you and want the very best for you!! Sending love and support your way!
With Marina, I hope for very high-quality pain meds to float you through days you won’t exactly remember.
Thinking of you hourly with love. You have made a lot of lives better just by writing. That’s power, darlin’.
Well, I suck horribly at this stuff, but hope everyone around you knows to let you relax during the recovery period.
Cak, we haven’t ‘met’ yet.
But i wish you and your loved ones all the best in this challenging times.
Be well.
Be well Cak- virtual hugs sent your way,
When it makes me sad to hear this news I think about how the procedure will give you many more mornings and laughs and Christmases with your children and your husband. They want that. They love you.
I remind myself how some women sometimes have this done voluntarily to avoid worse experiences.
It makes ME less sad when I think about these things. I hope, maybe, it might do the same for you.
I KNOW things will work out. I know you’re going through a tough time. I’ll be pulling for you.
@avvooooooo – So did I! Just remember who sends those to you!
We probably want to stay on topic here, right?
Jon and I are thinking of you Cak and wishing for a speedy recovery. We love you!
@Quagmire Chris would laugh about it. Be cool. We 4 go waaaaay back.
When you get out and are somewhat on your feet, I will purchase a box of cookies of your choosing. No, I’m not kidding. For serious.
People always say get better soon. Fuck that. Get better now. The cookies are waiting.
@Grisaille Hell yeah. Maybe that’s a much better idea! Bribe her with cookies, but only if she gets better quick! Maybe you could save the good cookies for when she gets better and she can just have the okay cookies now. Because I think she needs to keep her cookie level high since cookies are essential to getting better. :)
Good Luck Cak,your always in our heart and you will always be loved!!!! :D
Your amazing,smart,and super nice! :)
I’ll be thinking of you…...=]
It would be fun if every day she got a small package containing something totally random from a flurtherite.
Today I would send the fiesty little crab in the poolyard. Everytime I take him down to
the beach he comes back to the pool. I think he could hand with her in recovery and wave his claws menacingly at anyone bothering her.
Over a year ago when she had a serious surgery coming up, a number of us on Askville sent her cards to a central friend who forwarded them all on to her. She got a big bundle of cards from her AV peeps. I emailed all my friends I have on email about it & the response was great. She was so thrilled. She knows we all love her.
Good luck today chris! Be strong when needed and ask others for help as much as possible. I have full faith in your quick recovery. Someone who has so many people around the world praying for her and sending her good wishes, how could she not get well soon? We look forward to hearing from you after you have gotten some rest and eagerly wait for the good news!
WOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOO!!! CAK is out of surgery and in the recovery room! Her husband says she’s a little loopy, but that’s the joy of anesthetic. Just thought I would share the good news!
WONDERFUL! Way to go, Chris!
Glad the surgery is over, Chris. Lots of virtual cookies (the low-calorie kind) are headed your way.
<breathes a huge sigh of relief>
That’s fantastic news! Thank you @tedibear39 for keeping us posted :)
:) !!!
Speedy recovery, Cak!
Oooh…loopy. Drugs are great.
She’s out of recovery and in her room. :)
@tedibear39 Thanks for keeping us all posted. Let her know about this thread.
Yes, cookies await. The mediocre, but better than nothing (but still good since I wouldn’t stand for yucky), cookies now and the good cookies when you get better! So there! :D
Double Stuff Oreos. Woo-hoo!
Oh how wonderful to hear! Thank you for updating us!
Yes! You’ll show ‘em, Chris!
Great going Chris. You were in my thoughts all day.
Ohh My Gosh! That’s sooo awesome! :D
Thanks for sharing the news with us! :D
Way to go, Chris! I knew you could do it!!!
Out of surgery, out of recovery into her own room – Chris is already kicking ass!! We are still holding you in our hearts and prayers!
Okay, everyone! Into my minivan. We’re off to visit Cak!
I get to ride shot gun!!!
I’ll bring brownies for the road, and if there’s some left, Chris can have them.
That’s great to hear. I’m so glad she’s in her own room.
now on to recovery
We miss you Cak.
@AstroChuck…Swing on down to L.A….if the van’s too full, we can tie my wheelchair to the bumper…I am up for the ride! See ya…Gary aka wtf
Is there anyone here willing to be a central clearing house and mail forwarder to Cak? That means we could post real cards, books, music, food, stupid pink flamingoes, etc. over a period of time.
Often, after the initial rush of good wishes and prayers, people go about their business. The surgery is behind her; perhaps we can help with the healing process. What thinkest you?
I got snacks for the road and a giant Lindt candy bar for Chris!
@gailcalled I am totally in for the idea of continuing to send well wishes and cards, prayers, etc.
AWESOME NEWS! She is in recovery!
I hope someone can be a central clearinghouse as a mail campaign is in order!
If that fails I can easily set up and host a board for flutherites just to post good wishes!
I am willing to be the central clearing house. How do I find out her address?
I refuse to send my special cookies to you hooligans. You might steal them.
@chyna try contacting her husband thru her facebook account, if you’re on facebook. he was posting in her name today with an update.
Glad to hear things went smoothly. Hope recovery will do the same. Thinking of you, Cak!
@eponymoushipster @chyna: Keep us posted on central clearing house or willingness to mail stuff to cak directly. Milo is busily wrapping his gift now.
@gailcalled I hope to set something up quickly. Do you know exactly what it is Milo is wrapping up? In other words, will I be able to smell it when it gets here?
I will definately mail cookies if we can get an address.
Milo here: I have never spewed up a hairball. And I want my present to be a surprise. You’d be amazed at what good taste I have. (However, I have deep-sixed the idea of the two-volume autobiography I recently completed.)
@richardhenry: Remember whose cat he is.
But we wander from the issue. Maybe there is a way to direct-mail things to Cak. A PO box number?
I will have to send some lovely cupcakes her way!!
Hope all is going well cak, hugs to you xx
Why did I not know anything about this? I didn’t even know she had to go for an operation. I don’t even know why (is it about her foot?)! But still, cak, get well soon! You’re a treasured member of the community!
I need to be on the ball more. A lot more.
And cak, I am so sorry for not knowing and not being able to give my support… Hope everything’s going good!
cak.. I just found out… I’m so sorry… Be strong yeah? We’ll be here for you!
@Cak, I know this is late getting to you but my prayers were not. Nor, are my selfish wishes that you hurry in your recovery. Eat all those really good cookies first pass along the just okay ones to us! Oh! If you find one that’s not so good? Well, save that one for Astrochuck. We All Miss You And Want You Back Soon!!
With love…...
Here’s the latest update from her husband, via facebook:
(husband here) Rough night, she spiked a temp and had very low blood pressure last night. She’s sleeping now, feeling a lot of pain. I think they have her sedated enough to keep her sleeping for the morning. She is pretty emotional but still knows it was the best thing to do.
This was posted about 10am EST August 21, 2009
oh my gosh, that makes my heart hurt for her and her family. i know she’ll get through this. she’s in my thoughts.
My prayers have been with you @cak and I will continue to pray for a speedy recovery. Lurve to you with all my heart!
@all: It is a really grim surgery, both physically and psychologically (@Saturated _Brain..double mastectomy) without the complications of the blood cancer (CLL).
She has a long haul in front of her..Eponymous, ask her husband in a few days what he thinks would help from the fluther gang. Right now, we are guessing. Let them decide.
My ex has only the Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia, and treating that alone requires serious methods, all with side affects. My friends who have had the breast surgery only have had a long path to recovery. The combo is hard to imagine.
I had only a lumpectomy and that was minor in comparison but no walk in the park. I ache for Cak.
@gailcalled i posted with the question. ill let you (and @all) know what the response is, should it come.
@eponymoushipster: Wonderful. Thank you. Husband may be too busy and emotionally wrung out for a while.
I’m sure it’s a long and rocky road to recovery, Cak. I’m not a person who believes in “the power of prayer” but my love and best wishes are with you always. May the pain ease soon.
Chris, you’ve been in my thoughts constantly since you told us you were facing this surgery. I’ve been sending you a steady stream of loving thoughts and best wishes, along with so many others. I hope you feel it like a tide coming to you from the depths where the jellies live.
Oh, cak! How we miss you and love you so! I have no doubt in mind that you will pull through just fine, it just kinda sucks that you have to got through this. I know I speak for the collective when I say that you must become your chipper and wonderful self very soon or else we will be lacking deeply.
Are there any new updates? Any new FB status?
@PnL nope. and no response regarding the address info either. i’m sure the family is probably very busy, as well as physically and emotionally drained.
Of course. Thanks for checking!
Thanks for looking into it, monkeyman!
From CAK’s Facebook page: Chris is in ICU. She has had serious complications. It’s pretty touch and go right now. Thank you for all the positive thoughts. Around 6:15 PM EST on Saturday 8/22/09
@tedibear39 Oh no. Please, please keep us posted. My heart goes out to her and her family.
:(. Thanks for the update @tedibear39. More positive thoughts for her and her family. Hope everything get resolved quickly.
Oh my goodness. My heart is aching for her and her family!
@tedibear39 Thank you for the update. Lots of good thoughts for her and her family.
I go to Facebook only a couple of times a day, but will share anything I find.
I just found out today…. Best wishes for Cak and the family… saying a prayer the second this posts. Keep strong and don’t forget all your jellies love you!
Please let cak be ok. Please.
“touch and go” – seriously?!?!
This is terrible. She’s gotta pull through this (what the hell?!?).
:^(
!!! CAK !!! You Are A Fighter… YOU FIGHT THIS!! And listen to your Dr.
You fight some more and listen to your husband…
You REALLY fight hard now! Because honey, there’s a whole lot of people here, that really care so very much for you!!!
Fingers are crossed, hoping the next up date is a positive one xx
I’m sending you as much positive energy as I can. Get through this!
Apparently there were too many Cak questions according to one mod, though others were on the question without an issue. Whatever!
Orange for Cak:
On Askville there’s a tradition of going orange in support of Cak. According to one member, “In healing work, orange is used to raise energy levels, increase immunity… [many other things]”
I’ve changed my avatar to orange to show my support for Cak in this very hard time. Will you join me?
<——————- I’ve never stopped using the orange version for Cak.
If I had any idea how to turn my avatar orange, I totally would!
Just checked facebook. 24 hours since the last update.
Orange, and pink! Thank you avvooo for bringing this here, too.
Orange for cak (‘m colorblind…hope it’s close)
orange… how do you guys tint your usual avatar orange?
orange you glad i made my monkey orange?
You go Astro… Now WTF is REALLY confused!
@AstroChuck…You little brat….I’m going your little butt. See ya….Gary aka wtf
This is almost like a candlelight vigil. What a fine idea for expressing loving support. I hope someone will save the whole webpage for her, this thread and the other one and maybe also her fluther pages, so the images will be captured the way they are now (or will be when everyone’s lighted their orange candles).
Oh my, this is the first I’ve heard if this, @Cak good luck, and hurry on back, even though I don’t usually pray I will today for you.
@Jeruba maybe we should link it on Cak’s wall on Facebook. What do you all think? It might give Mr. Chris a good feeling to know how many people are sending prayers and good wishes to his wife.
@avvooooooo mine froze up and yours is perfect! Thank you!
cak, I look forward to getting to know you better. I have been thinking of you this weekend. I hope you feel well soon.
Update from Facebook:
Chris has had 4 seizures since surgery. She fell out of bed the second time it happened, that’s how they discovered her. She lost a lot of blood and has received her second transfusion. She’s still in ICU but was more aware of things today. She also had a mini stroke the night after surgery. Thank you for your thoughts. I told her you went orange, I think she understood.
That was posted literally one minute ago, at 10:00 EST, according to my clock.
Oh Cak! We are all there with you in spirit. Hang tough!
Keeping the prayers going for you and your family.
So, so sad. However, I am very much anticipating the moment when I check in here and see the good news that cak is on the mend. I know it will happen, and I’ll keep her and her family in my thoughts until then.
On iPhone right now… The second I get home I’m going orange for Cak
I really really really hope she will be okay…
<————Not sure if it worked but tried going orange for Cak
Hahaha we’re all going orange for her. Yay.
@awooooooo: fuck.
Thank you for the updates but Christ…she needs to turn this around. Hang in there Cak!!!!
Yes, Dr C, it worked. I hope that all of this orange brings Chris the help that she needs.
<——- See Cak, I didn’t give up, I’m finally Orange!!! Now you sleep, sleep is good…. Rest my dear friend, we will all be here waiting…. Miss you Kido!
I am so very happy Cak. Please feel better soon!
Orange is one of my favourite colours. yay! :)
I haven’t been here in quite some time, but I am here for CAK. You are in my prayers constant.
Excellent update from Facebook!
“Big improvement today! Temp is normal, bp is normal and she had broth and it stayed down. The pain meds seem to be helping more, but they make her feel a bit sick. She refused to eat the jello. It was yellow.”
Frank Zappa said not to eat the yellow jello, right?~
Goooooo, CAK!
That’s the spirit CAK – I’m so happy to hear some good news! Prayers will continue for your perfect health.
Something great that happened today? Cak is on the mend!
halle-fucking-lujah!!!
Here’s hoping the improvement steadily continues.
Cak on jello here.
And… YAY CAK!
How do you put your backrounds orange? I wanna try.:(
@wildpotato – I know. That’s why I used The Fluther Sarcasm Tilde™ ;)
I know you’re hanging in there, @cak, and we’re sending out the healing vibes!
much love to you cak… sending positive vibrations your way!
7:15 a.m. central time
Here is a Facebook update that was posted within in the hour: She is being moved to a regular room later today and might have access to her computer. I’m not sure if she will feel up to typing yet or not. She’s had swelling in her arms. She hasn’t been able to see the kids since surgery, so she…‘s getting antsy about seeing them. I know she’s trying to fight, but seeing her this down is hard. She is the rock of the family. She’s getting there.
Keep fighting, we’re all pulling for you!
Hope she’s able to read through this whole thread.
Even if all she can do is a quick scroll thru to view the sea of orange avatars, that hopefully will be inspiring and encouraging. I did that last night and it’s pretty awesome.
Great to read the positive news of progress.
Well, I’m not tech savvy enough to turn my seashell orange, but cak has all my good thoughts and prayers.
@bythebay Haven’t seen you around much in the neighborhood lately. I’ve been missing you.
Lovely update! Poor thing, I bet she is itching to see her children, I hope they can visit soon.
Still thinking of you Cak!!
@janbb: thanks, ive been missing you all too – but needed a break.
<< I’ve converted to orangeism!
Oh thank goodness! I was so worried! She’s a fighter though, and it looks like she’s pulling through! Yay Cak!
btw: I’ve also gone orange for our dear Cak. :)
Swelling in the arms is caused by Lymphodema Lymph nodes under each arm are removed to prevent the cancer from traveling thru them. But that means there are no nodes there to remove the lymphatic fluid.
I still carry antibiotic band-aids and a tube of Bacitracin in my purse in case I scratch or bruise my left arm (where I had axillary nodes removed in 1996). I can’ have b/p taken or blood drawn from that arm. And no biting of cuticles, ever.
I am really happy to hear that Cak is progressing in the right direction.
With respect, let’s save the jello recipes for another question, possibly?
Lymphedema, as an NPR news story recently reported, can be helped a lot by weight lifting. It used to be thought that exercise was bad for the condition.
Just found all this out cak…I’m sending you and your family the best during this difficult time. Recover soon, Fluther needs you!!
@daloon : I am now doing that. I started with ½ lb and am now up to 5 lb. hand weights. It took over a year of gradually increasing weight. Slow and steady.
So happy she’s out of ICU!!!! From my family of cancer survivors (my mom is a Breast Cancer survivor… Grandma has Leukemia and dad was taken by a Brain tumor, Uncle lost to gasgric Cancer and several aunts and cousins survided breast cancer, Uterine and Cervical) to yours… All our love and support… if there’s anything you need we’re here!
Yippeee! More progress!
I bet she is beside herself missing the kids.
Good Morning Cak!
May today bring you little blessings!
I have joined the Cult of Cak and turned meself orange.
We’re rooting for you. Can’t wait till we hear from you again. If anything, I hope you read this thread and realize how much the community cares about you, love.
Oh, no! Cakism! I think we’d better analyze this. It might not be what it appears to be. It could be a clique!
How about “The Orange Clique”?
Or the new fluther royal family; The House of Orange;
Drink: Veuve Clicquot; founded by Madame Clicquot
Song; Yackety Cak
And its signature dish “Clique a l’Orange.”
And its signature knock-knock joke, “Aren’t you glad I didn’t say “orange”?
:) I have missed some of you so very much; and I will join any club/family/clique you’re in that supports our precious cak!
@gailcalled Hey, the House of Orange is already taken!
@janbb What would that be like? Knock knock. Who’s there? And then?
So yeah, I’ve been reading along but haven’t really said anything because I don’t know Chris, but of course I wish her all the best and am delighted to hear about her recovery.
The above update made my day! Go Chris!
@Vincentt It’s a dumb American schoolkid joke and here’s how it goes:
“Knock-knock”
“Who’s there?”
“Banana.”
“Knock-knock.”
Who’s there?
“Banana.”
“Knock-knock.”
__Who’s there?__
“Orange.”
__“Orange who?“__
“Orange you glad I didn’t say banana?”
You probably have to be 6 to find it funny so I imagine AstroChuck thinks it’s hilarious!
How do folks feel about maybe gathering up all the cak threads into one question that we can all follow without so much redundancy and overlap—and worse, the chance of missing something if you miss following any? We could post a question such as “What is la Clique d’Orange?” (or “le Clique d’Orange” if “la” is wrong—can anyone improve our fun French?) and point back to the various threads, and then point them all there.
Or we could post a question that very plainly refers to cak’s state of health so there’s nothing cryptic about it, and then do the same with the threads: all four of them that I know of, and any more that I don’t.
@jeruba I tried to post a question about going orange a few days ago and was told that because we already had 2 Cak threads, I couldn’t start another one.
I think it would be great if we could combine the CAK threads. I keep flipping back and forth for updates. Is there a way to do it?
I suggest, then, that we ask a moderator (maybe one whose name begins with A) what’s the best way to do that.
@Jeruba Good idea. I am so afraid I am going to miss an update and I’m clicking back and forth so much, I don’t know what I have read and what I haven’t read. Gathering them all in one thread would be the best bet. But what about the sheer number of responses? I remember, and maybe incorrectly, that they shut down the CIA thread because of the number of responses. I wouldn’t want that to happen. Combining them all would make it easier for Chris to read when she is up to it.
I don’t mean literally merging them. I just mean having only one to follow from here on, with a final post in each of the others that points them to a new single question.
Good idea, it could be called the Official CAK update question, and refer to the others in the detail section.
That would work. Mods (with an A)?
@Jeruba Good idea, I think I’m following three separate threads it seems…to get updates, and they keep coming on different threads. It’d be nice for a new one. :)
I love that idea. Three threads to follow is a little crazy (although I’d follow ten more if it would help cak even a little bit!), and they are starting to take a long time to load. :)
This sounds like a great idea. The reason we prefer to limit the number of threads about a the same topic is that it often results in people not knowing what thread to follow and confusion. I will send an email with this suggestion (specifically that all but one Cak thread be closed with a final comment directing the reader to the thread that remains open).
It can get started now with a final comment/link back that we-the-users (not we-the-mods) create. Then official freeze or not, everyone will know what thread to use.
But I think it will be highly preferable to use a thread already in existence. Like this one. No matter what thread it is, it’s going to get very long. I don’t think that is avoidable. We like Cak. We want her to get better and feel our support. That means a long thread.
Looks like @EmpressPixie beat me to it! Sounds like a good idea, but only Bendrew can close a thread. I’ve forwarded the email directly to them.
Sounds like a Caktastic idea.
too bad cak doesn’t have a twitter account. she/her husband could tweet status updates and we could in a more direct manner send our well-wishes.
anyone know if she has one?
I just saw this post from cak, posted only a week ago, days before the surgery. I am unable to take it in.
@Jeruba Such a perfect example of why she is so special. She’s had so much to deal with… more than any one person should ever have to, yet has such a positive outlook! I really need to take some lessons from her.
I missed the switch to this page, I was watching the other ones wondering what was happening, thanks for posting the new link and finding me!!!
A brave, strong and wonderful woman!! Keep getting better, Chris!!!
We’re looking forward to your healthy return!
I think its cool to look at Cak’s fluther. I don’t think there’s a single row without orange in it (some is more subtle than others) and I think its not only interesting to see how people changed their avatars and what they chose, but also to see how many people are supporting Cak in our little orange way!
Omg,thats fucking great! Still thinking of you dude I miss you soo much..please come back!!
>>sends get well card with a stuffed giraffe<<
Hi everyone. I can type a little today, it doesn’t hurt as much as it did yesterday – plus, I’m not sure what language I was typing, it certainly wasn’t English.
I cannot tell you how much the positive thoughts and prayers, jokes and reminders to fight like hell have helped. I’m doing all of the above.
I have a lot of catching up to do, I’m still pretty sore – please allow me some time to do so. I really appreciate every single person that has kept my entire family in their thoughts. The impact on my husband and children is very profound. I couldn’t do a thing without them in my life.
My Fluther Family, thank you!
Chris, It is impossible to say how wonderful it is to see something you typed here. Please take your time. Stay as strong as we know you are. We’ll be right here waiting when you are ready with pancakes, cake, and lots of other goodies.
I will keep up my program of sending you positive thoughts and energy every day, and your family too. I hope you have gotten to see the kids.
Love,
Marina
So happy to have you back… you have been missed.
Thanks for making my day with your post cak!
Good morning to you. My wish today is that you are in total comfort as you heal.
You and your entire family are in my prayers every day.
It was totally awesome to see that rocking giraffe!
Take as much time as you need, @cak! We’ll all be here waiting with continued good, healing vibes for you and your family. Bless. :::hugs:::
It’s wonderful to see you! Get some rest. Still sending positive thoughts your way. :D
Yay! It was nice to see you. Now, get some rest, smile when you can and know that you’re loved. (I will keep avvvooooo and jbfletcherfan away from the cookies!) If there’s anything that we can do, just holler.
On a side note I want to thank @EmpressPixie, @Jeruba and the others who consolidated the threads to this one.
Relax and take your time to heal cak! We will be here cheering you on even if you cannot log on!
@tedibear39 Bonnie calls me “cookie snatcher” for a reason! But I guess if they’re for Cak they’re safe! You’re cookies, on the other hand…
@cak Don’t make me follow through on my threat to replace your wardrobe! ;)
Aww man…as soon as I saw the giraffe I started to tear up (at work, no less).
So, so, so, soooooo….happy to see you typing again.
And don’t adjust your monitor – the orange is for you. Much lurve.
@cak- Well, where the hell have you been?
It’s great to hear from you Cak. Keep getting better! We’ll keep Fluther warm for you.
Wow! I never expected you to post yourself so soon. You are just a little miriacle!! I know you’ve got a long road ahead of you, but we won’t stop praying for you. Cancer sucks but we know your kicking its butt hard! Love to you and your family!!
@cak- How long do you think before they let you come home? Any idea?
@cprevite I teared up too. At least they are happy tears now!
I’m so glad to know that you are on the mend, Cak. I’ve been thinking about you everyday. Get well soon!
<———————-Totally cried.
So happy to see cak!!!
@AstroChuck She said on Facebook that as long as she behaves and eats her non-yellow jello that it might be Friday. She struck a deal with the nurses about the yellow jello.
@cak: Add my tears of joy to the list! Now put the computer away and rest! We’ll be here when you are ready, and our support will continue until and beyond that time. You truly are a wonderful inspiration.
Much love and respect.
~~Kat
Oh Cak! So glad to see you well enough to type. Please, please take your time. We all love you so much and are just glad to hear you are on the mend. ((((hugs))))
<whips up some coffee jello> yay cak!
<——- crying tears of happiness, rocking the orange hat for cak indefinitely
Finally she’s here! Yay!
<——Orange waddling feet
@cak: tears of joy just to see your avatar…and know that you are strong in mind & heart!
Yeah :) Great to see a message from you Cak I hope all the positive thoughts are reaching you at this important time. Get some rest and be well :)
Yay you are okay! I thought I was seeing things when I saw the giraffe, but a fabulous surprise it was to see that it was you!
Chris, sorry I’m so late here in writing to you. I’ve been without my computer for over 24 hours & won’t get it back until tonight (I’m at work now), so I’m behind in what’s going on. It’s GREAT to see you here & to know that you’re gaining ground. Don’t worry about us & feel that you have to write. We know you’re here, you know WE’RE here, & we’ll all meet up again as soon as you feel up to it. Get some rest! We’ll talk soon. :-) (((Chris)))
I saw all of these ”@cak” links and nearly had a heart attack. Fucking shit is it great to hear from you.
You’ve had us all worried sick, you know. Dammit.
Now, once you un-sore yourself, you’ll get those cookies I promised you. Any variety, make, etc – your choosing. From all of us.
Get better now.
Umm… I know this is awkward, but I always though @cak‘s avatar had a flying cow on it… er…
@cak Thank you so much for updating us- it is wonderful to hear from you!!!
@cak Take all the time you need to get strong – it’s great to hear you are back.
I just woke up and see that you have been here! You are one very brave and strong woman. You have my utmost respect and admiration. GOOD ON YA CAK!!!!
(and remember there is not that much difference between the yellow jello and the deadly yellow snow, so don’t weaken on that front! If they keep giving it to you, hide it in the bed pan, they’ll never know!!!)
Only issue with hiding yellow Jello in a bedpan is scaring the living crap out of the nurses. They might even want to keep her a little longer to probe around, trying to find the reason why her urine is solidifying into gelatin form.
DON’T DO IT CAK
Welcome come back @Cak, I have gone Homer Orange for you.
This is so great to read your post, Cak. Get plenty of rest and heal. Still sending out positive vibes for you.
@cak: It is absolutely wonderful to hear from you! Rest up, heal well, and we’ll see you again soon.
What a lift you gave us all by showing your beautiful, happy avatar here today! Welcome, welcome back, dear @cak. I hope you can feel the orange glow surrounding you.
___
@Fred931, you can see it better when you enlarge it. To see an avatar full size (assuming the original is larger than the display), right-click on the image. Choose ‘Copy image location.” The image location appears in your address bar. Delete the characters ‘_thumb’ (including the underscore) at the end of the URL, and go. That takes you to the original uploaded image.
It is so great to see you back! Welcome home!
Sigh of relief, comforting that the giraffe is back.
Random-Things-That-Have-Happened-In-The-World-That-You-Care-About-That-You-Missed-Because-You-Lost-Contact-With-Civilization-For-A-While Update Provided by Fred931 is at your command, @cak!
You have no idea how much we’ve missed you, @cak! I’m sure glad to see that friendly giraffe face around once again. (:
Wonderful to see you, glad you’re feeling somewhat better!
~Jessie
I was having one of those days where tons of little, crappy, stressful things add up to one really foul mood.
But now it’s all better! Seeing that giraffe just made my day. Take your time getting better and healing with your family, @cak . So, so, glad to see your post!
Thank goodness you are on the mend. First question I look for when I log on is this one to get the update.
yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
so good to hear from you!
It’s so good to see you back, Ms. Giraffe! Take your time and do everything you need to to get better – and know we’re all here thinking about you!
wonderful to see you back! you’ve been in my thoughts constantly, and it’s so good to see you! take your time and feel better <3
Time to say goodnight again Cak.
May your night be restful (ha! Yeah I know that the concept of sleeping in a hospital is a joke ;) ) and in the morning may you feel more focused and pain free.
I am so happy to see Cak posting in all the coolest threads! Welcome back – your posts (here and on facebook) made my day!!
Great to hear from you again cak. =)
I’ve just had a brutal and bruising root canal, but I’ve got nothing to whine about. Perspective.
This is how cool @cak is.
She took time to wish me well and offer kind thoughts about my unfortunate divorce news. With everything she is dealing with, she writes me about that.
CAK is the most remarkable woman and such an inspiration.
I feel privileged just to have gotten to know her on fluther.
It’s wonderful to read a message from you, Cak, and I hope you have a very speedy recovery. Rest easy and take good care of you. =)
@Jeruba : I know- I feel guilty for complaining about anything now!
Oh, how we missed you! So glad to see you back. :)
Cak! I am praying really hard for you and your whole family, and sending lots of love your way. I am so sorry I didn’t see this until just now. I’ve only been popping in and out lately because work has ben hectic.
My heart goes out to you honey. Get lots of rest, and know that you literally have thousands of people pulling for you. You are loved very much by very many!
Very glad to hear your “voice” back on the Internet. I told my daughter about you and she wants you to know that she is very impressed with your strength and wishes you the best.
Note: At room temperature, jello is liquid, so go ahead and hide the yellow stuff in the bedpan. Just hope they don’t check it for protein levels.
CAK! How’s our little giraffe?
Your finally here! Omg,I missed you! I hope you feel much better, get some rest and come back when you can! ;)
@Cak it is so great to see your avatar out and about here on Fluther! It warms my heart!
Hello Again Cak,
Hopefully today found you reunited with your children even if just for a few moments.
Praying for more healing.
Goodnight!
May you sleep well despite your surroundings.
Oh, sweet news. Hope you keep recovering well.
I am glad @cak is back. It took me awhile to find the right thread, I’m a little dense sometimes and if the puppy smile helped a little bit, that’s great, but I am sure that all the love, wishes, prayers, good vibes, and positive thoughts of the entire Fluther community is what helped her to come back to us. Cak is a fighter, and I for one think she is THE BEST there is!
@cak Are you being good in the hospital? ‘Cause if you aren’t they won’t let you out!
@avvooooooo My Father swears that hospitals keep moving you to different rooms so you can’t find your way out.
Good Morning cak! May today bring you one step closer to home.
YAY! YAY! TODAY!
‘Less you’re being bad, of course…
@Dog That’s also why they steal your clothes!
@Dog Last time I went in, I had my mother take all my clothes. Though she might not be any better at giving them back, at least she won’t hide them!
YAY! YAY! YAY!
@cak is HOME!
Damn, what am I gonna do with all these 99 cent store yellow blouses?
Hooorayyyyyy!!!! Welcome home, cak!!!
CAK is home? That is the best news I have had all week. Chris, you are truly blessed with many friends and we are blessed to know someone like you.
I think just home to fluther for now.
Nevermind. I just saw on facebook that she IS home! Horray!!!!
Wow – amazing and wonderful news!
That is truly wonderful news.
That’s great. It’s so much easier to heal at home.
Happy, happy. Joy, joy. Happy, happy.
Happy to hear of your progress @cak!! Do rest at home and don’t feel as though you should be doing chores!
Great news!
So much better to sleep in your own bed.
One step at a time, darling. I know you’re reading this. Slowly but surely.
Hurry up and get better, cak because Fluther looks like it’s got a serious case of jaundice!
Yay, welcome back to Fluther home and real home! (=
Whoooo hooooo!!!!
I am doing the HAPPY DANCE for Cak!
There is no place like HOME! :)
@Dog ahem you mean the Chicken Dance. (:
Wonderful news! Cak, don’t rush it! We love you, but we want you well!
I hate to sound trite, but THERE’S NO PLACE LIKE HOME!
So glad you are better.
@rooeytoo, did you tap your heels together three times?
Glad you’re back in Kansas, @cak ;)
Great to hear you are home cak. Now take it real slow and heal and feel well. See ya….Gary aka wtf
@mangeons Nope- the Happy Dance. It is like the Snoopy Dance.
@shrubbery – no but I will if it’s a good thing???
@rooeytoo, it might only work if you’re wearing these. maybe that’s how cak got out of the hospital, she has ruby slippers!
Gotcha, heheheh, and I especially love them with the gray anklets. They’re loverly!
We are all rooting for you!
@cak Yay for you being back home! Don’t you dare try to start doing chores or something. You never know who’s watching. That’s right, we are watching. 24/7
Lots of love and positive thoughts towards your way. Let people fuss over you! And take care of yourself!!
Yes! No more jello!
Get some rest and let your family take care of you. Looking forward to your return. :)
Welcome home! You’ll get waaaaay better rest at home (or at least I hope you will) and being in a comfortable environment is always great. Congratulations!
Welcome hone sweetie pie! I’ll be praying for a speedy recovery for you. I hope you don’t have too much pain, and your healing goes quickly and smoothly. Please know we are all pulling for you.
Good morning cak! Hope your first night back at home was restful!
Prayers for lots of healing today!
Can’t wait til Cak comes back and leaves a reply in this thread, cause she’s gonna get about 2 catrillion billion lurve points.
Can I just say that I love seeing the orange avatars as I roll through new responses? They make me so happy and so glad that cak is back!
Hey Cak,
orange you glad I’m Naked Homer?
@Bri_L LOL! Yay naked homerr! :)
Glad your home and healing Cak! I still miss you though. :)
Glad to here you’re back at home. Hope you’re feeling better and better.
Yay!!! How nice to come home for our weekend and see that CAK is HOME!!!! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
WoOpEe!!! Glad your back home and fingers crossed all is going well, remeber it may be tough at times but if this thread has proved anything you are being thought about heaps!
Be well and take care xx
@cak I’m so thrilled for you! Take care of yourself and let everyone spoil you!
Following you in my thoughts, @cak. Knowing that you’re at home now is simply wonderful news. I know it’ll take a while to mend, but you are mending. I’m cheering for you!
I spent the day in the ER, but was released. It’s time for bed, again. I swear, that’s all I do is sleep.
Thanks everyone!
@cak that’s what you need to do! hope you feel better!
Oh Chris, I’m so sorry that you had to go to the ER. Hope you are feeling better and sleep is your number one job right now.
Darn. I was worried that you might not be feeling well, otherwise we would have heard a tidbit from you. Rest well!
I’m still thinking orange. Sleep well!
Still praying each day. Rest up- we will wait to have a huge party till you are strong again!
Sorry about the ER visit, but glad you’re back home.
Dear Chris; I hope that the visit to ER was a minor blip on your path to recovery. No fun, I
know, but maybe that is now history. We are all your booster club. You do know that.
Love, Gail
Sounds like things are still bumpy. Hope they smoothen out soon.
Goodnight CAK! May tomorrow be a full day of rest at home.
Let us all (virtually) gather around Cak’s bed and hum her a lullaby.
hmmm hmm mmm…
hmmm hmmm hmmm…
hmmm hmmm hmmm…

(That was Brahms’ lullaby. Did you recognize it?)
edit:I forgot to whisper Shhhhhhhh
@Jeruba ; actually, I was thinking, “Hey, that’s Brahm’s lullaby,” before I got to the end of your song!
Goodnight, sweetheart. Goodnight.
Sending you thoughts of healing (and a croissant) from Paris.
zzzzzzz ::gurgle:: zzzzzz
::snort:: Huhbuwha ?!?!?
Did someone say “croissant”?!?
(hmmm…all that humming must have knocked me out)
blue moon….
sorry, wrong song.
@cak ~ during sleep all of your superhero cells can strengthen their army… may your slumber be tranquil and your dreams beautiful.
Good morning @cak! Hope this is a better day for you. :)
Have a great day at home with your family @cak!
Good Morning Cak! May you rest (and stay home) ALL DAY!
Have a beautiful, restful, healing day, CAK!
Hey Cak! I’ll be thinking about ya!
“Thhhhiiiiiiiinkkkkkkkk Caaaaaaaaak”
I kept wondering what the sound I was hearing – it’s my fluther family singing to me. Whooooo…drugs have kicked in, back to bed. Went to my oncologist, I start chemo next week. BLAH. Going to pout for 5 minutes, then I’ll be over it.
@cak or it could be the bean soup i had yesterday…sorry. :(~
Shall we hum her back to sleep again? hummmmmmmm hummmmmmm hum HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!
So, you going to do the wig thing this time, or just opt for bald is beautiful? I’ve got some nice red wigs if you want to borrow some, and my daughter has a hot pink one. :-)
My daughter might be willing to loan out her Barbie Rapunzel wig @cak , if you feel like being blonde for a while. :)
I have a long curly brunette wig I could send. It looks like Cher’s in Moonstruck but a bit less kept. You could be like Annie Lennox! (In case you do not know that name her trademark is wearing different wigs and changing her look in each video.)
:)
@cak Been hoping to hear how things were. I’m sorry you had the ER scare. Glad you are back home, Chemo, huh? Perhaps we should all go hairless when you do.
@cak, I’m glad you’re home. We’ll be here with all the cheers, lullabies and cookies you need!
GIANT COOKIE OF DETH!!! (‘cept it won’t kill you) I tried my best to work around that generally useful, but in this case, annoying, javascript that Bendrew game me to cook with:
____________
{ o o o o o o o }
{ o o o o o o o }
{ o o o o o o o }
{ o o o o o o o }
{ o o o o o o o }
{____________}
I filled it with splenda, choco-chips, artificial peanuts (In case you’re allergic – don’t want that right now!), a couple of aspirin tablets to make the pain go away, lots of love, shredded Hallmark cards that I found in your wastebasket, some leftover London broil from last night, and something that i found in the cupboard that I thought would make the cookie smell nice…It might be detergent, but it says non-toxic on the box, so don’t get mad if this ruins the whole thing (I’m a horrible chef…).
@cak: My mom chewed lots of strong minty gum during chemo. It helped keep the taste out. Also, she got a chocolate cake. I hope you get one too!
@Fred931: Me too! I’m thinking orange cream frosting. :)

Cake for @cak is done! Ingredientes: chocolate powder stuff in the pantry, choco-chips, cocoa puffs, cocoa-O’s, hershey’s dark chocolate bars, chocolate icing, chocolate febreeze, chocolate-colored artificial flavoring, all the same ingredients from my cookie, and chocolate-looking stuff I found in my child’s bedroom closet. YUM!!!
@All: Wigs are hot, tight, itchy, unpredictable and another mild but unnecessary form of torture while one is undergoing chemo. Cak’s support staff will have the resources but the ACS and the other organizations sell nice cotton bandanas, cloches and hats that are cool and attractive.
Some of them come with real hair that soften the effect. http://www.headcovers.com/headwear/hats-with-hair/
And not all chemo causes hair loss these days. My chemo had me peeing pink for several hours. Cak’s kids might find that funny, or not.
Aw man, I don’t think I could draw that… NO, I MEAN THE HAIR!!! of course the hair!! Pervert.
@Fred931 But you let Bendrew game you? What’s the perversion, anyway?
The last thing you mentioned in your response…
Not perversion but fact. Some of the ingredients in the chemo drip might burn the skin of the arm; red dye is introduced so that the nurse can make sure the port doesn’t leak any fluid on the skin. Then the dye is expelled in the urine. When you are being treated for cancer, these issues are quotidian and mundane.
No, that’s not perverted. I was talking about my response to the first part of that original response, which was that I could not draw a wig. Then I read the second part and realized the error I had created: It might’ve sounded to some people that I thought I wouldn’t be able to depict the second part of your response because it would go against site guidelines.
(With 424 responses, it IS hard to keep everything straight but the main theme of rooting for Cak.)
Which is why we must move on to something else not related to @cak. Not right now, though, ‘cause I have to get some sleep. I’m very tired after making that giant cookie and cake. And I expect @Cak to eat every last crumb of both by the time she leaves the hospital, or I shall SELL HER SOUL TO THE DEVIL… BWAHAHAHAHAHA Enjoy, Cak!
Goodnight Cak! Think of you…...
@gailcalled I have often wondered if the wig was tolerated to make others comfortable. Is it?
Good night @Cak. Sleep tight and pleasant dreams of dozens of jellies, colorful and warm deep in the lagoon.
@gailcalled I’m betting pink pee does make her kids giggle. It make me giggle, but just a little!
We’ve been talking for months about what to do with her real hair when it comes back in for good! My vote is for a pink fauxhawk!
@cak Cookies for you! Its important that your cookie level doesn’t get too low! And I think you might like them just a little better than @Fred931‘s cooking! Not that there’s anything wrong with it, of course…
@avvooooooo: I was thrilled with first the fuzz and then the 1” long buzz cut. MY eyelashes grew back thicker and curlier too.
zzzzzzz ::gurgle:: zzzzzz
::snort:: Huhbuwha ?!?!?
Did someone say “cookies”?!?
Yes, I did. Last night, actually. The giant cookie and the super-chocolaty cake are in the fridge. But guess what? You have to ask @cak first. You can look at them, though, they’re a few posts up.
Hope everything goes well, @cak. Stay strong. (hugs)
@cprevite I did too… And I might share mine… But then again, I might not because I’m not good at sharing cookies. ‘Cept with @cak!
Dave Barry has written an informative and useful column in today’s NYT on his response to chemo
It is entitled; My Brain on Chemo: Alive and Alert. A useful read for the lucky among us who is not a member of that particular club.
Sending out restful and healing thoughts @caks way.
@gailcalled I will look it up- thanks.
@Dog: He mentions “fog brain.” I had forgotten about that. And also some of the chemo irritates the mucus membranes, giving one a delicate esophagus and women yeast infections.
@gailcalled, interesting article. The author is Dan Barry.
@Jeruba: You’re right. I was too hasty.
Cak- hope you are at home resting and bored. Bored means the pain is subsiding.
Bald and beautiful. I tried the wig thing last time, it looked like an expensive, but dead animal on my head; however, I could sport a Kate Gosselin wig this year!
Thanks everyone – I’m getting ready to take something to help me sleep – it’s been a long day.
Bald IS beautiful! And so is that Giraffe avatar—I smile so big whenever I see it!
Sleep well, @cak!
get one of those big russian fur hats. winter’s coming…
Or a cool pompom hat… Like a Big Bird colored one!
Or this. :D
@avvooooooo I think cak could totally rock that second look. :D
@cak I wish you good, healing sleep. Nighty-night!
Mmmmm… bedtime cookies — with warm milk and honey…
@augustlan I know, right? It’d be a nice compromise between the pink fauxhawk I’ve been wanting her to do with her growing in hair and a more natural thing!
@hearkat Oh yeah… So good!
Here in the tropics I vote for the bare look with a do rag to protect from the sun. But in the cold winter the russian fur hat might be better!
It’s nice when you pop in for a moment now and again Cak!
Cheers
Buena note dear girraffe.
Bon soir, Chris. Dormmez bien!
Stessi a voi il mio amico.
(Italian to French to Italian – only on Fluther)
It was good to see you here, CAK! Hope you had a good nights sleep. Here’s a
{{{waking up hug}}} just for you.
It’s funny how some people can wear wigs and others can’t. One friendly teller at my bank always had the prettiest blond hair. One day, however, I went into the bank to find her a brunette. She still looked fine but her hair just wasn’t as striking. I asked her about it and it turned out that the lovely blond hair was a wig that she wore during chemo. We had a bit of a laugh over it.
And then I have friends who simply go with a bandanna or a cloche to keep from getting sunburned. They look fine, too. In fact, being without hair tends to draw attention to things such as cheekbones and eyes, so some look much more striking bald than with hair.
Whichever way you go, Cak, you will still be beautiful.
I hope your every day gets better and better.
Good Morning Cak-
Hope today has you smiling!
So glad to see you popped in for a bit. That’s a good sign. Just keep on getting as much rest as you need and know that good vibes from all of us keep coming your way. :)
@cak did you eat all my giant cookie and cake? Don’t worry, you only have to eat it all.
Goodnight Cak. Hoping that each day brings strength. We sure miss you around here!
Goodnight and sweet dreams Cak! I hope your feeling alot better.:)
I don’t have any cookies, but I have half an Ice Cream Sandwich Cake that needs to disappear fast. Anyone with a spoon is welcome to come over and chow down before I lose all control and have another piece.
@cak I’ll save an extra big slice for you! Hope you are feeling better each day and healing well!
@MissAusten Its unforgivable that you don’t have any cookies! What kind of mother are you! ;)
I have a spoon!
Cak- My hopes and prayers are that you are comfortable.
Sweet dreams.
For those on her facebook perhaps they can mention if she checked in? I do not want her to feel she has to be here but would be comforted knowing she touched base somewhere.
@Dog yes, she’s posted a few things. she’s even gone out to the store.
@Dog She is posting on facebook now and then. There is also a virtual balloon named “Sunny” that is traveling the world with positive thoughts for her and her family.
@gailcalled The store trip had good and bad. The latest facebook status from Friday has us going to an island where no one is ever sick and certain beverages abound and the fishing is good. The rule, however, is that everyone has to shower.
But don’t ocean swims count as showers?
@avvooooooo: What do you mean by the store trip had good and bad? I gather that her trip was not a complete success. I am less interested in the fantasies…they are fun for us but perhaps less so for the sufferer.
Hello Cak,
So glad to hear you are still plugging forward in recovery. Still praying for extra strength and patience as your body heals.
May today someone give you a really good laugh- it is the best medicine…
Say- maybe some flutherites know some good jokes!
Anyone?
@gailcalled Her status, she can post what she wants, including an island trip that we all go on with her.
No, not a complete success. Stupid people happen. But @cak is kick-ass and let the woman have it. :D
@gailcalled
the status update in question:
Whoops! I might need something to take to improve my mood. A lady at Target actually (yes, I ventured out) said, “I’d kill to be thin like you!” My response, “Oh, it’s easy…just get cancer, have your boobs looped off and l…oss any desire to eat, in the process. You’ll get both wishes, to be thin and it just might kill you, too.” GRRRRRRRRRRR!
people say stupid things sometimes.
@eponymoushipster : Do they ever. At least she was able to get to Targets, something I could never do no matter how healthy I was. Big box stores make me ill.
I just sent her a book called “Good Poems for Hard Times,” (short, accessible and good for double-dipping) and am about to make a donation to the American Cancer Society in Cak’s honor.
@Dog: I think I have a good light bulb joke.
Question: How many men with competency issues can change a light bulb?
Answer: Depends on how many of their wives are watching.
I like target much more than Wal(Secret Angorkian translation of Hell)-Mart and much less than Publix.
love Cak’s response to the lady at Target
@cprevite I told her she should have socked her in the nose. :)
Hi, @cak! Hope the weather’s nice where you are and that you’re enjoying the day!
Yeah. I just had dinner and it was delicious. But that wasn’t what you were looking for, was it.
Let’s hope no news is good news.
@cak I hope you are getting rest and I also hope you know that we all love you and look forward to your return!
No updates since Friday. :(
She just posted one on Facebook:
Started chemo today. I’m miserable at this moment, so I thought I’d try to do things to occupy my mind. Tried knitting, I knitted a knot. Tried painting, that was just bad. I even tried welding…well, there’s some kind of metal sculpture going on….looks like the finger to me.
What gumption. Bless you, @cak!
Cak- So sorry about the chemo. We are rooting for you to get through this and praying that you feel good fast.
Sculpture that looks like the finger… of course we express our emotions in our art ;)
Good Mornin Cak!!
Visit fluther more like you used to! I miss you,we all miss you!
Good morning Cak. Hoping today brings healing and freedom from pain.
Just poppin’ to say “hello,” and to show some support.
Lurve, Cak. Hope today finds you doing well.
Just sending some positive thoughts your way.
@cak ~ can’t wait to hear you tackled a Reese’s® Peanut Butter Cup Sundae at Friendly’s :)
Hang in there @Cak!!
We lurve ya.
Has anyone heard from Cak lately?
@Judi Her status was posted 21 hours ago.
@avvooooooo: PLease repeat it for us outsiders. Thanks/
@hearkat: Thank you. This posting has gotten long and really cumbersome.
But it is nice to note that Cak has been able to keep her sense of humor.
@gailcalled: Agreed, I was just thinking we might want to start a new post soon… I try not to tap on this post when it pops up in my activity because how long it takes to load on my iPhone, even though I want to know how she’s doing!
@hearkat: Flag yourself and suggest it. He’s mod now.
I don’t know how to flag, or if I can, from the iPhone… I’ll send him a PM, I guess
[mod says] All new updates and well wishes should be directed to the new question here. Thank you!
