If you want to uninstall, it depands on your operating system.
tell me if you have xp or vista?
what MrGreneVan said would stop it from booting up at start up. So tell us if you would still like to remove it.

look at the top of your windows live messenger in the tan bar, see words:
File-Contacts-Actions-Tools-Help
click on tools- click options
left side you will see a list that says:
personal-general-messages-alerts and sounds-sharing folders-file transfer-privacy-security-connection
click on general
see where it say sign in- uncheck the box where it says:
Automatically run windows live messenger when I log in
click apply and ok at the bottom of page
page will close, this will stop it from logging in every time you turn on PC.

To be able to remove unwanted programs on computer startup, Click start, click RUN and type msconfig and go to the startup tab and uncheck the program you did not want to run at startup then click apply and restart your computer.
