How long did it take you to build up your lurve?

Asked by XOIIO (18328points) August 23rd, 2009

I would like an estimate of how long it took you to build up your lurve. I’ve already topped 100 in around a week, how long did it take you to get to 1000, 2000, 4000, 6000, 8000, 10000, 15000, 20K?

It took me 3 months and 8 days to reach 530 so far.

Helpful hint: when you see a 10k or 20k party, JOIN. Oftentimes, there are a lot of fabled lurvefairies that wander about clicking every “great answer” button they see. Be funny when you get in there, too, for extra points from normal people.

Helpful hint to compliment my last helpful hint: add johnpowell to your fluther, and stalk him until he reaches 20k

jeffgoldblumsprivatefacilities's avatar

It’ll be 3 months tomorrow, and I’m at 3260 currently.

hoiioh's avatar

Well I’m at 11, and i’ve been trolling around for a year.

rebbel's avatar

Another thing to do is check someone’s profile.
You’ll see their date of joining as a Fluterite.
And their lurve is also there.
Do the math after that.
Et voila.

jrpowell's avatar

I can’t give a good estimate since there weren’t many people here when I started. But I had another account and I got to 517 in six days.

Fred931's avatar

SEE? One of those lurvefairies has already made its way in here!

jeffgoldblumsprivatefacilities's avatar

@johnpowell That’s because you are a rockstar, JP.

lefteh's avatar

@hoiioh That doesn’t count, you just actually joined today!

MagsRags's avatar

I think it also depends on how much time you spend here. I’ve been here a little more than a month, FWIW.

loser's avatar

A few days.

galileogirl's avatar

I am 12 days past my first anniversary so that is about 600 lurve/mo. At a previous site I made 10,000 in a year but with the Fluther system you can easily get 15 GA’s and only 15 lurve. Not complaining, I know it is the same for everyone, just noting.

jamielynn2328's avatar

I have been here for a month and a half and have almost 1500 lurve. I lurve my lurve.

casheroo's avatar

I’ve been a member almost six months…I tend to be on quite often though.

jrpowell's avatar

I did some number crunching a while ago. My average was about 100 points per page. So I have 402 pages of lurve. So that makes my score without the limits imposed about 40,200.

The first thousand come a lot quicker because people like you. After those people who like you max out it takes a little longer.

jrpowell's avatar

Judi is right. I can get 50 great answers and only get ten points. Users can max you out. If Allie gives me a great answer it doesn’t count.

rebbel's avatar

@johnpowell Huhhuh, huhhuh, i get that, but who is Allie?

wundayatta's avatar

I started a little more than a year ago: August 8th, 2008, (today is August 23rd, 2009) and I’m somewhere around 16,500 as I write this.

OpryLeigh's avatar

It will be 5 months tomorrow and I’m on 1388

Darwin's avatar

Hey, I started the same day as Daloon! So I’ve been here 12 months and 15 days and have 12739 points right now.

Judi's avatar

I’m on my iPhone so it’s harder to look, but I think we all migrated over here from “that other place” about the same time.
Edit:just checked, I beat you two by a day.

amoreno06's avatar

i’ve been here about…3 months??
i thought it was longer than that.
well, almost four.
so far,only 312 lurve =(

galileogirl's avatar

@amoreno06 What’s wrong with you? Do you have a real life or something? < ; P

amoreno06's avatar

@galileogirl haha.
actually, I’m here most of the time I’m online. lurking , i guess
but every time i start to answer questions, i figure my answer is either too long to finish or just wouldn’t be of any interest to anyone!
oh yea, i don’t have any internet access at home yet otherwise i prolly would spend even more time on here!

I’ve been here since last Wednesday.

That’s what I’ve had to do to reach 5k…

Jack79's avatar

I joined around Dec’08 and I’m up to 7000, so I guess it would be around 1k/month or something.

I joined on January 16, 2009 and hit 10k in June, i believe. so approximately 6 months to 10k.

hearkat's avatar

I think I’m one of the slowest Lurve collectors here… It’s taken over 2 years just to get to 7k. I am pretty quick-witted in regular conversation, but for some reason, I rarely engage in that banter here. I am a bit choosy about which questions to reply to, because I put thought and often a lot of heart into my responses.

Judi's avatar

@hearkat, it’s just that you actually have a life and don’t spend as much time here as some of us kooks.

AstroChuck's avatar

It took me six years.

hearkat's avatar

@Judi: I have found that the most active people on these types forums tend to have jobs that involve being on the computer all day. Because I have the ~inconvenience~ of working with patients plus a 1-hour or longer commute each way, I rarely get to check in. Add to that the fact that I desperately need all the beauty rest I can get, and it leaves me a tiny window of opportunity to post. I am often eating a meal while surfing the web, because that is when I have more than a minute to sit! But I don’t know how much of that makes my life more “real” than anyone else’s.

filmfann's avatar

53 years 4 months 3 weeks.
Well, only 4½ months actually on site. About a thou a month.

Bluefreedom's avatar

It took me about 9 months to get to 10k lurve. I’m slow but good.

rooeytoo's avatar

I have been here since March 27th, 2008 and only have 4965.

I have an innate ability to annoy people, hehehehe. Maybe I should try to change my personality!

AstroChuck's avatar

@rooeytoo- Not at all. You just believe in quality over quantity. Slow and steady wins the race. As for me, throw enough crap at a wall and something is bound to stick.

rooeytoo's avatar

@AstroChuck – why thank you, I was beginning to get a complex!!

Slow and steady is my mottos, I am the original tortoise from the tortoise and the hare.

filmfann's avatar

@rooeytoo You understand the sexual overtones of that story, right?
The tortoise is phallic. The Hare is female (combine cute bunny with “hair” reference).
And despite expectations, the tortoise finished first.

YARNLADY's avatar

My first few days, I got over 100 a day, and then it slowed down. I participate more than some (several hours every day) and therefore I am in a position to give more answers and ask more questions.

I have a chart of my progress, noting the date of each thousand step, but overall, I have taken eight months to get where I now am. My first 1000 took 8 days, and the second took 7 days.

rooeytoo's avatar

@filmfann – I don’t know what kind of tortoises you are looking at, but the ones I see, don’t strike me as phallic. Do you have flippers on your…..............never mind that would be way too much information!

But I will henceforth be careful not to use that allegory in front of young children. Thanks for the heads up (hehehe)

ABoyNamedBoobs03's avatar

@filmfann think you’re looking a bit too into that one. I’m curious as to where you heard that?

rooeytoo's avatar

I thought he was kidding about the sexual content, do you think he is serious???

ABoyNamedBoobs03's avatar

@rooeytoo I’d hope not, seems a little silly.

AstroChuck's avatar

@YARNLADY- Lurve for your choice of orange avatar.

drdoombot's avatar

I’m finding myself getting dangerously addicted to Fluther, so I’ve decided to leave the site when I hit 10k. If you want me to leave faster, you know what to do…

OpryLeigh's avatar

@hearkat That sounds true to me, I spend my whole working day sat at the computer and (although I don’t have as much lurve as some) I do find myself having my fair share of sneeky looks!

Darwin's avatar

@filmfann – Are you trying to say that women are, ahem, hare-brained?
