Which Disney character would you consider the most universally loved?
My friends and I were watching The Lion King today, and were discussing how awesome Mufasa is. We decided that we couldn’t think of another animated Disney character that was as adored as Mufasa.
Do you agree with this?
Or are we forgetting another beloved Disney character?

Ariel from The Little Mermaid.
Maybe Nemo
Mickey is the face of Disney, and the most popular character. I think Tinkerbell might be second. The last 15 years has seen a huge increase in Tinkerbell items.
@soar I don’t think so. Ariel is a selfish brat. I just watched it the other day and was surprised how much I disliked her…when I loved her as a child.
I’d say Cinderella.
Mickey is probably the most universally loved, with Winnie the Pooh as a close second. The two of them are really the mascots of Disney.
Unfortunately I’d have to say Mickey Mouse, even though he couldn’t carry Donald Duck’s jockstrap.
I feel like Mufasa is a wise, powerful, understanding, and tragic character. Mickey of course is universally loved, but I feel that Mufasa has more depth. And just kicks ass, even his name is cool.
After the classic Disney characters who seem to be falling out of fashion the first one who came to mind was Nemo… I wonder how many little kids have actually seen The Lion King or anything with legit Mickey in it. As such, I’m not sure who would be most universally loved…
Ariel!
There’s a LOT of non-legit Mickey out there. Mickey Mouse Playhouse means he’s known and loved for teaching about colors and counting and crap.
I LOVE Jack Skellington, but I’d have to go with Belle, from the Beauty and the Beast.
Mickey Mouse, then Donald Duck!!! That’s the RULE!
@Tink1113 Belle was pretty kick-ass. Took control of her own destiny, kicked the asshole villain out of the house, rode off to the rescue a couple of times… Pretty kick-ass compared to some of the Disney girls!
@AstroChuck Jock Strap? Donald Duck doesn’t even wear pants!
Disney held back Tinkerbell items until their 50th anniversary approached. They knew Tink was more popular than Mickey. I give some notice that there is a perv appeal as well.
I would have said Bambi was most beloved. Guess I was wrong there. My personal favorite is Pinocchio and Dumbo, who succeeded through their own basic goodness.
Mickey Mouse and Tinkerbell
not together, but separately. They have never been an item.
Tinkerbell!!! Haha
Nemo!!! I love him!!!
Cinderella is always a favorite!! :)
Goofy is pretty much the only one of the original “shorts” stars worth anything. Looney Tunes kicks all their butts.
M * I * C * K * E * Y ** M * O * U * S * E
That proves nothing! We all know Bug Bunny would outsmart all of the Disney characters, than take off with Minnie and Daisy.
@drdoombot- Perhaps, but we’ll never know as he wasn’t smart enough to see this coming.
@AstroChuck Lurve for the Roger Rabbit clip, but it’s unforgivable for Donald to call Daffy a nigger.
I agree with @jeffgoldblumsprivatefacilities definately Winnie The Pooh although he’s not my personal favourite Disney character, it’s all about Esmeralda from The Hunchback of Notre Dame for me!
@avvooooooo I would say off all the Disney girls, Mulan is the most kick ass!
I want Mary Poppins to tie me up and peg me.
@Leanne1986 I’ll agree to that. Mulan was pretty hardcore.
@Leanne1986 Yeah, Mulan was totally kick-ass. But for the girly girls running around in dresses, Belle didn’t do badly for herself!
It seems that Uncle Scrooge is universally loved in investment banking circles.
