These nasty thing are everywhere I go!

I see we have some east side haters…
Hotter, drier (much drier) summers?
More population=More pot smokers=More roaches?
The weirdos on the west coast eat theirs. They really have a lot more, but you rarely see them unless you look between people’s teeth.
It depends on how west you want to go. The Hawaiian islands are infested with them.
Higher humidity on the east coast, and in Hawaii.
I’ve got about 300 here in the Midwest, but they aren’t natives. They are Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches. They are creepy, but unlike the American (originated in Africa) and German cockroaches (originated in Asia and Russia), they don’t bite, they don’t spread diseases, they can’t infest your home, they are vegetarians, they will die at a temperature below 40 degrees F, and can’t go longer than three or four days without food or water.
Oh yeah, and they are the only insect to make noise by forcing air out of their breathing spiracles. The fourth set to be exact. The female keeps the egg case inside her abdomen, where the eggs hatch and the young are ‘born alive.’
I saw one of these live births happening the other day and found it quite interesting. They are pure white with black eyes when they are born.
They are great pets, easy to care for, and they never bark at the neighbors or claw up the furniture.
Soon as I saw this question, I thought this is one for @evelyns_pet_zebra !
I just want to tell you, the roaches in the top end of Australia are the size of fat cats and they chase you if you try to kill them(which of course I never would, just get them the hell out of the house!). And worst of all, they fly, so you are not safe anywhere!
Can Australian roaches swim? If not, I suggest you move your colonies into the water.
Nothing swims in the top end of Australia, too many crocs! They own the waterways.
