How do I ask a guy out if I am shy and dont know how to talk to new people?

I want a boyfriend who takes me for who I am and who cares for me but I am scared of meeting new people and have trouble wondering what to say. I am afraid of new people and get things confused. Please help I just want a relationship with some guy that will understand and listen to me. I have trouble finding the one.
