I’ve always been fond of the soundtrack to the movie Stay. Link
Not sure if it is exactly what you’re looking for, but give it a listen. My favorite track is Leon Sees.

I’m a big fan of Liquid Mind when I need some arhythmic breathy wind instruments.

Paralell Stripes by the Aphex Twins (sorry it’s an iTunes store link)

R Carlos Nakai. Try the sample of track 2 or track 12.

Great suggestions all… I haven’t checked out the last five or so, but I’m working through them. I’ve found some Tibetan sound bowl and digeridoo tracks that might do the trick.

Also, (since I’m interested in correcting my crap spelling) it appears to be “arrhythmic.”

@Marina, the link is reflective. ;-)

@Lightlyseared, really nice.

@grumpyfish, also a nice suggestion. Something like that but a little less cinematic. Anyway, it’s plenty to go on. Thank you!

This is a little bit off, but your description reminded me of this this song. You did say you want ‘windy’ instruments, but to me the voice of the singer always sounded windy.
Anyway probably not of use to you, I’m just throwing out there what my first association was.

Ow and what does: Discernable rhythm mean?

@kevbo Sorry! Corrected link.

Why not just get someone to, collaboratively, make an original piece according to your imagining?

Practically anything by Sigur Ros. They have very ethereal music.

@kevbo I have composed some music like that. PM if you’d be interested in an original composition.

Who gave me Sleep Chamber Lurve?

markyy's avatar

@kevbo, There are 2 suggestions to use Sigur Rós. Last time I checked this is a democracy and the most answers count. I’m sorry to tell you this but you are obligated to use a song from Sigur Rós. It’s your own fault for not putting in a disclaimer in the description :P

Hmm after listening to ‘Aphex Twin – Parallel Stripes’ I will admit that it is a better choice. To be a sport I will retract my Sigur Rós vote. But you owe me one!

Check out the 4AD music label. Cocteau Twins, Clan of Xymox, Hex (not the Japanese group), Dead Can Dance, and many, many others.
