Is something wrong with my Mac? (See details)

Asked by Fred931 (9434points) August 25th, 2009

It’s a new MacBook Pro, for reference.

Just a while, ago, I created a new Apple ID so I could create an Apple Developer’s Account. After filling out the information requested, I click on “Visit the iphone dev center” button, which just brings up a page saying “We are processing your request. Please wait a few moments then refresh this page.” And so i did. For about 45 minutes.

I decided to X out the browser (Safari) and open it up again. I go to the iphone developer page and click sign in, and then it shows the same message. So then I tried to see if the new account worked on iTunes. The first time i tried this, it accepted the account and began to set up the itunes info, which i declined. Then, just for convenience, i signed back into the apple ID that the computer uses, just to find out that the password doesn’t work. (Caps lock is off, thank you)

Then, I decided to create another account that used a slightly different username with the same other data (I’m talking about the one I created today right now). Same result as before. Then, i tried to access the account through iTunes again, and this is when that password doesn’t work either.

I’m very confused at the moment. Is this something wrong with my Mac, my internet, a virus, what?

More info: When I use the iForgot link for the old account, it comes to a page that says “Sorry! An unknown error occurred.”

Even more info: I got the sign in for the new account to work. I’m just going to ignore the duplicate. Bad news: It’s the same “wait and refresh” message.

Even more even more info: instead of saying “We are processing your request…” it says “can’t connect to application instance.”

I can get into ADC. But that is totally separate from my account on iTunes.

Holy heck. It says that i’m signed in when i’m at the mac dev center, but not when I’m at the iPhone dev center.

That’s what I’ve been using this whole time to try and login.

Other more info: I forgot that the old unrelated itunes account had a different email than it had before. Ignore that completely.

It’s not your Mac. It’s likely on the Apple server side of things.

Easiest thing would be to send a message to the support crew. Or you can call.

And one thing to keep in mind is Snow Leopard went up for pre-order today. I have heard a few reports of the servers acting really strange.
