Do you ever wonder if you might have a superpower that you never realized you had?

Asked by benjaminlevi (2992points) August 25th, 2009

Obviously you would probably notice if giant lasers shot out of your eyes or you could fly, but what if you had a really mundane supernatural ability? Maybe you could turn salt and vinegar chips into sour cream and onion, or you always knew exactly how many milliliters a liquid occupied you would never notice that you had those powers but you never tried to use them?

there are people like that. they’re called savants.

usually they’re severely mentally disabled, but have some amazing gift.

like the guy who can look at a photograph or landscape once and draw a perfect, detailed reproduction. or the girl who can’t tie her shoes but can look at any object and tell you it’s dimensions.

So basically, all superheroes are Rainman.

I think most of us are guilty of at least once in our lives of not just considering ourselves unique, but also in possession of some form of special power, be it a super power, some magical power, ESP, or the ability to foretell events. It’s a fun fantasy. See ya….Gary aka wtf

I used to think I had the ability to “sense” where I could find a certain girl I had a crush on. I used to take my friends along to prove to them that I could start from any random location and find her. Even I was creeped out by it.

Other than that, I have the uncanny ability to sit still for many hours at a time. I went through a grueling summer program years back that had a bunch of us in a class room from around 8am to 7pm and I took it in stride. It’s like I was built for office work.

My friend has the secret power to turn calm, sweet, kind, loving women into raging, evil, vase throwing, cock choppers.
All he had to do was date them.

I have the ability to fully understand people and to talk about their expressions and how they feel towards something.
Not really!

I was able to predict ahead of time what would happen to me in traffic court tonight re: my little speeding ticket. Does that count?

@gailcalled….Pray tell, what did happen, and did Milo represent you, as expected?

I have the power to amuse or annoy people in as little as thirty seconds. The only problem is, I am never sure which outcome will occur. From some responses I’ve read on here, I have found that I annoy some people without even trying. Now that’s a power I can live with!

I (almost really) believed that i had the ability to, when in soccer a team was awarded a penalty, direct the outcome of it (being a miss or a hit).
I was right so many times.
But then i missed some.

I’m very intuitive of people or happenings sometimes? And i pretend i’m not so people would think I don’t know what’s going on or am dense, etc. Double-edged sword…

jackfright's avatar

Since i posted my last superpower, i’ve developed another equally impressive ability.
I can convince other people i’m actually interested in a conversation we’re engaged in.

@jackfright…Please share your formula for success….I seem to always be thwarted by unintentional eye-shift to a more interesting distraction, like the sweeping second hand on a clock, for example. See ya….Gary/wtf
