Bacon, bacon, bacon. Great on everything except ice cream.
@Marina I’m pretty sure it could be good on ice cream too.
Easy question. Better for you, yes. Better tasting, HELLLLLL NO!
@Marina I could dig some bacon on my ice cream.
@Marina, has that been proven? Both delicious by themselves, the easy answer would be that they are great together too. Just wondering.
I have tried maple bacon ice cream at a party. The overwhelming concensus is that is was Not Good.
@PrancingUrchin Toothpastes taste good by themselves. Lemonade tastes good by itself. But have you ever taken a big gulp of lemonade right after you’ve brushed your teeth? Trust me….not so good.
It depends upon the bacon. There is little better than my local, small-batch, applewood smoked bacon.
One of my favourite things is bacon on eggy bread (french toast if you’re posh) with maple syrup on it. Now this might seem normal to my cousins on the North American side of the pond but here I get some very strange looks.
But to answer your question, Yes there are things better than bacon, first my wife (and she’s vegetarian) second music (couldn’t live without it) third literature (the written word holds more wisdom than a meal ever could)... need I go on?
Although I might add I did have a bacon and cream cheese sandwich for lunch today, it was good ;-)
Really good bacon. Then there is Prucetta, the real thing, is quite good, especially on a woman.
Bacon flavored boobies are better than bacon.
@chelseababyy, I’m with you, sausage definitely has its place. I usually have a hard time deciding between links and patties. I usually go with links.
@kevbo , there’s one thing I can agree with.
Yes. Bacon from pigs tends to be greasy. I HATE greasy stuff. Turkey bacon gets my vote :)
@Facade if it’s not from a pig it’s not bacon
To quote John Travolta in Pulp Fiction ”I don’t know if it’s worth five dollars, but it’s pretty fuckin’ good.”
the real question should be: “is there anything worse than bacon?”
then the answer would be “no”
@ragingloli gasp How could you? Bacon is delicious! Shun the non-believer! SHUUNNNNNN!
Anyone ever tried that chocolate bar with crispy bacon pieces inside? That sounds really good to me.
It’s my favorite condiment!
“And because the internet seems to be a bit obsessed with bacon”
What? The Internet is conscious already?
As for your question, what is better than bacon is sweets! Like brownies and fudge and chocolate ice cream and marshmallows and caramel…
I nearly added my last better thing as mathematics but thought that would make me geeky
I seriously doubt I’d turn down sex in favor of bacon. So yes, there is something better than bacon. Notwithstanding, I may include bacon w/ the sex to have the best of both worlds.
@Darwin Unless I’m into that sort of thing right? XD
@NaturalMineralWater, I had a feeling that someone would say that but why can’t there be a little bacon in the bedroom?
I have a feeling that flutherite’s are seeing my responses and saying to themselves, “What is wrong with this guy?”
Yes, there are a lot of things better than bacon. Bacon could not be any more overrated.
I hate bacon. :)
The smell of bacon is way better than the taste of bacon.
“Bacon bacon bacon bacon WHERE? In that bag! What’s it say? I can’t read! Please give me what’s in the bag! Chewy yummy smoky BACONNNN!!”
Someone had to say it. At least for the dog lovers out there.
I looooooooooovvveeee bacon! I’m having a quandary though… Do I love cookies more than bacon? Or do I love bacon more than cookies? Could cookies be better than bacon? Should I have made those bacon cookies when I had a chance?
Hummmmmmmmm…
@Marina I’ve actually tried it on ice cream. And around bananas :)
No, there’s nothing better than bacon, at least properly fried good quality bacon. But of course all the good things in life are bad for you…
@ragingloli But you don’t love bacon so who cares what you have to say?
Kidding :)
Bacon wrapped in Bacon..
To quote Homer Simpson: “You can never get enough Pork products”
theres organic bacon? you could try that
I didn’t answer until now because I really had to think about this. I saw the Q at dinnertime, went for drinks with friends, saw a comedy show and took the train home, the question in the back of my mind the entire time.
And after all this thought, it came down to two things: bacon and gelato.
I have made my choice…
Gelato.
Bacon is a close second.
Reading all of the comments on this page inspired me. I am currently eating bacon.
Damnit, grease on the keyboard!
Bacon is my weakness. It’s the only pork I eat.
@mangeons I’m holding it up to the computer. Can you smell that bacony aroma?
I dated a cop once, but she was a vegan.
“The pig is an amazing animal. It can take anything and turn it into bacon.”
—Jim Gaffigan.
Beer is better than bacon.
Australian bacon is more like Canadian bacon than American bacon. I like it but boy could I ever eat some real American bacon!
But why is it suddenly becoming some sort of icon, it has been around for a long time and was simply taken for granted, what happened???
@rooeytoo – I think bacon has become an internet meme partially because of the recipe for the Bacon Explosion, partially thanks to the rise of blogs like thisiswhyyourefat.com and partially because it’s been on TV since 2006 on various food shows, per this article.
I was never a big Kevin Bacon fan. It’s cool you all like him, though.
i reallly need to make a bacon explosion…
@aprilsimnel Dude, you can order Bacon Explosions! I think I know what I want for Xmas! :D
Sex is better than bacon. Not by much though.
No, there is nothing better than bacon, end of story
I prefer my bacon peacefully left on the pig.
@tinyfaery If you’d like to cut out pork, fried turkey bacon in a little bit of butter tastes just like pork bacon… Bacon was the hardest thing for me to give up when I gave up pork! I understand! But luckily I discovered turkey bacon, so now I can still enjoy my favorite- BLT’s!
I like bacon, it’s true, but there are lots of things I prefer to bacon.
I would rather have a good book any day over a plate (or piece!) of bacon.
But having read some British things, a bacon sandwich sounds really good…
I also agree with @chelseababyy and @PrancingUrchin: I prefer sausage (almost) always over bacon.
Peameal bacon really hits a spot that regular bacon does not!
OTOH, there is salami, which by my lights is even better than bacon because in consists of pork fat and garlic.
Carrot juice with black licorice
Crispy bacon!!! I like the ones with a bit of a crunch.
OK, that link @kruger_d? Would be like me sleeping with Don Draper (if he were a real person). Absolutely wrong, but I’d really, really, REALLY want to anyway.
Scrapple is also better than bacon. My family (I mean greatgreatgreat grandparents) used to make in it PA.
