Is there a name for the extra time endured waiting for a parking space due to the fact that the driver of the car leaving the desired place has to seat three kids?

I don’t know about the name for THAT, but, if, after waiting for them to get their kids buckled up and get on their way, someone sneaks in and steals the spot from you, my husband and I call it being “Fandangoed” from the Zen like Fandango commercial.

I do know that a study was done on this that the person getting ready to leave will take longer to do so if they are aware that someone is waiting for them to pull out of the spot. I’ve been known to do it, but my only defense is that I am somewhat ornery that way. =)

That’s why I don’t wait for a parking space unless I see lights on (preferably the reversing lights). And when I was little, my mom would have to seat 4 little kids!

Shees, If I see someone with that longing look in their eyes as I am walking to my car I will point out that I’m leaving and have them follow me! I will then even wait to put my seat belt on until I am out of the spot so they can get in faster. Why in the world would someone (on purpose) take longer? That’s just rude!

If you find the name for that, see if you can find the name for the time waiting for someone to stop picking their nose or get off their cell phone or the myriad other things that people do that make no sense in the parking lot.

I feel pressured when someone sees me loading groceries into my van and they decide to wait for the parking space. My daughter insists that she buckle herself and it can take some time for her to do this. Why do I need to worry about someone else that wants the parking space. They could be in the store by the time my daughter buckles herself.

I really hate lazy people.

@avvooooooo Pickparkers – n. Person who picks nose while sitting in their vehicle in a public or private parking lot.

Rolling Phone Booth User. n. A person that sits in their car, using their cell phone, either while driving, or at a stoplight, or in a parking lot. See also Dumb Asshole.

It is a time trial of sorts, trying your patience to see just how long you can endure the annoyance to the point of your head exploding. Call it parking place patience period, perhaps?

@Judi I’m one of those people. I only do it if the person is being impatient, and I can see them throwing their arms up in the air because I have to put my groceries away, then take the cart back with my son in it, carry him back to the car, buckle him in, then get in the car to leave. This apparently drives people crazy that I don’t just leave my child unattended in a car, which to me is the ridiculous part.

@casheroo ; If I see someone with kids I don’t bother waiting, I have three and 4.5 grand kids myself.
I don’t do much waiting for cars anymore anyway since I lost weight. No longer mind parking in the back of the parking lot and walking. The only downside is when I can’t find my car when I return! That even happens to me when I park Close!!

If you can see that someone is just getting in their car, and that they have groceries/packages/lots of kids/a handicapped person, etc., and you choose to wait for the parking spot, then the term you are looking for is idiot. Why in the hell would you wait? Are the 2 yards of less walking worth it?
