Pc problem...

I have an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz processor.Can I overclock it to at least 2.6 GHz?

For the difference in performance you’re going to achieve, why bother?

It depends on the motherboard and the BIOS. If your computer was made by a major manufacturer like Dell then the answer is probably no as the hardware just doesn’t have the ability to modify things on that level. They this on do this on purpose so you can’t screw the system up too bad.

As @OreetCocker says a change that small won’t make the slightest bit of difference. You are much better off spending the money on increasing the RAM and then upgrading the graphics card.

The last thing to mention is that if you are going to start overclocking the CPU you need to think about what you are going to do with the extra heat generated.This doesn’t have to be fancy watercooling but does have to work. (I’ve got a 2.66GHz Intel Core i7–920 overclocked to 3.8GHz and runs fine with just air cooling, but I put a lot of work in to choosing the case, the heatsinks and the fans and then wiring the thing to make it as effiiceint as possible).
