Have you used Sally Hansen Microwavable Eyebrow, Face & Lip Wax? What was your impression?

Asked by La_chica_gomela (12594points) August 31st, 2009

I don’t want to taint the discussion by starting out by saying what my experience was. I’ll tell you about it after. I’m just curious to hear other people’s opinions of the product and their experiences with it right now.

I’ve never used toe Sally Hansen brand, but I did another one. It’s very hard to regulate the temp. Right out of the micro, it’s too hot & you can get burnt with it real easy. Then you let it set & it gets too cool. Frustrating stuff to use. If you want to do a good job, go get a tub of GeGe wax & a wax heater. Then you’ll have a constant temp all the time. They’re worth the money.

Also why don’t you have a seat over there?

I think I did use the brand and it didn’t work well! The strips are better.

I’ve used it and I think it’s average. It can get messy and doesn’t remove 100% of the fuzz (I’m also not the most precise person in the world.). It didn’t irritate my skin too much either. I got a little red right after and some tiny white zit like things a day or two later, but nothing too bad.

I burnt the Hell out of myself (try explaining the third degree burn on your face at work) . . .

@Kayak8 Yep. You can get burnt real easy.

I used to use another brand of microwavable wax and most of the time, it collected dust under the bathroom sink. Getting the consistency right so the hair gets pulled out and not just thin layers of skin, scrap that- I’d end up in the salon having the fix what I botched. Nowadays I don’t wax at all, I find a threader because they can go over the same area as many times as needed with no damage to the skin.

I had a container of MV wax strips in my medicine cabinet for two years. I finally left the unopened box on a bench in town. Someone took it.

I have not used that brand. I have used Nads and Moom which are all-natural wax alternatives.

I heat the product in the microwave, and I set it in a bowl of hot water that is enclosed in a plastic baggie so that the steam doesn’t dilute the product (both are water-soluable). You can tell by the consistency when the product is too hot if it is runny… it should be like honey.

I just started waxing this spring and mostly use it for legs and underarms, but have also used it on the strays around my eyebrows. It definitely is easier with practice, and the hair does come in slower and less quantity with consistent use.

i haven’t used the wax though, only the “facial hair removal cream”
