I am from Canada, and i was wondering if i went down to the US, if i could legally purchase alcohol, because in Canada, the drinking age is 18?

nope, home court rules apply.
It depends on the law in the state you are visiting. I don’t know if all states have a 21 year old limit now, but when I was young, the age was 21 in Illinois, and 18 in Wisconsin, to the north. We would go to Wisconsin and buy beer. There would also be trouble if we were caught in Illinois with beer we bought in Wisconsin.
You can’t get legal weed here either. Right now every state in the US is 21 to drink. Sorry.
But tons of kids in border towns go to Mexico (not that I’m reccomending that of course)
And for you not much help since it would presumably be way too long of a trip. :)
When you are in a certain place, you must follow their rules. Your home rules do not apply. Some states you can because the age there is 18, but many have the age being 21.
Look for a man that is slightly disheveled in appearance, may be sleeping in some odd place. Usually they can help you out with that, and sometimes drinking with them can be very interesting. You’ll be enthralled as your regaled with stories of twenty Godzillas, and how dogs can actually speak. Or maybe you can get the experience of what it’s like to push a real shopping cart, full of strange voodoo like artifacts, down the road amidst muttering of some Jezebel being the cause of it all. Just nod and stay observant, don’t get drunker than your “tour guide” you could end up one of them.
(not actual advice for novelty purposes only, you know, laughs)
Why drink and drive when you can smoke and fly?
@Zen I like where your heads at soldier.
