Is there a way to get the weather for a specified time of the day via RSS or a script?

Asked by erichw1504 (26453points) September 2nd, 2009

Looking for a way to get daily updates on the next few days of the weather each morning at 7:00 am for my bike ride to work. Any way to do this with an RSS feed or creating a script or something?

In direct answer to your question, weather [dot] com offers RSS feeds here.

Depending on your feed reader software, you can configure the frequency that a particular feed is polled for updates.

Not sure I understand the intent here. How do you want this information presented to you?

Via RSS, that would mean you’ve got some sort of feed reader. A feed reader implies you’ve got some sort of computing device with a web browser: a desktop, a laptop, an iPhone, something.

If you’ve got a web browser, then you likely can just bookmark a particular weather page for your area. Then just hit that bookmark whenever you want. The iPhone has a builtin weather app. The Blackberry also offers a free download weather app

For example, I’d simply bookmark my location of interest via weather [dot] com and check it each morning. Set it as your web browser’s default home page if that’s easiest.

@robmandu My intent is to be able to just see 7:00 am’s temperature, wind, and other stats quickly and easily for the next day or two, so I can easily plan for the mornings commute.

@erichw1504, yah, but why not just pop up a web page like I suggested in the 2nd half of my quip?

What is it about having access to an RSS feed that meets your particular need?

Not criticizing, just curious.

@robmandu I was just looking for a quick way to view the next day’s weather conditions at 7am without have to go through all the clicks to get to 7am on weather.com or any other weather site.

I have Vista Inspirat on Windows XP. It has an object bar like that in Mac. It shows weather, both in icons and description. I haven’t used it and it needs internet of course.
