I’ve never tried it but acrylics dry quickly and could clog your equipment.

Apparently you can use acrylics but not the standard type, at least without thinning the paint:

It should be okay, but you might want to thin the paint. Sometimes, because of the plastic in acrylics, it can become very thick and it might clog your equipment.

You will need to thin it. I recommend using a retarder to slow the drying time to avoid frustrating clogs. Also the finished work should be sealed with a binder since thinning the acrylic paint will sometimes cause it to not want to stick to the surface properly.

I did several murals with acrylic paint and my airbrush. Be sure to diligently clean the airbrush and take it completely apart after each use or it will give you endless grief in spatter and clogging.

Ha, right after I posted this, I added water (couple of steady drips in to the acrylic) to it. It kind of worked, but I don’t think it worked well enough when trying to clean the gun. I had a feeling the pressure in the nose would dry up the residue of the acrylic, and I was correct. I did some major cleaning, it all worked out. Thanks flutherites.
