Songs for Mom?
What are some songs you would dedicate to your mom? Not your 97 year old mother who can barely walk, but like a modern mom who likes good upbeat music from the 80s and up.

I would suggest:
Michael Jackson
The Who
No Doubt
Radiohead
Supertramp
U2
The notion of “dedicating” a song to someone always seemed a little awkward to me.
That’s like forcing music on someone.
Is there a context for this musical dedication such as a birthday?
For the 97 years old The Final Countdown by Europe.
For the modern mom Jump by The Pointer Sisters.
In such an event, I might set up a playlist on a cd or my iPod to play as background music for the party that I think mom would like. I have some cd’s that I keep around which I refer to as “mom suitable”.
That collection includes music from Jack Johnson, Ben Harper, and some good old Rolling Stones (pre-1980). You don’t want to go with too many old school tunes lest you remind your mother of her age. If she’s like my mom, she’s thinking about that enough on her own.
A great upbeat song is the Beatles’. “when I’m sixty-four”
Whenever I hear it, I always mentally picture the baby bouncing up in the air all smiley as in the movie “The World According to Garp”
But it is just such an upbeat bouncy infectious tune it makes you want to dance.
Why not dedicate a CD to her instead of a song. I don’t know exactly what you are planning for the Birthday event, but I think a CD would be something she could take home and enjoy over and over again. You could junk all our suggestions and pick songs that remind you of your mother. They wouldn’t have to carry the idea of getting older, motherhood, etc… They could be just songs that are special between you and mom. For example, you might remember an album or tape your mom used to play when doing house work, relaxing, driving in the car.
Hope your mom has a great birthday!
That would be DR Alban- it is my live
i would suggest Michael Jackson’s songs….they have very awesome lyrics…
