Got a good quote for physical therapists?
Apparently being a philosophy student means that people get to ask you to pull quotes out of thin air. I’ve been charged with thinking of something worthy of the motivational whiteboard at work, and I’m brain-dead tonight. Any suggestions? The quote doesn’t have to fit the themes of physical therapy and motivation more than vaguely – the one we have up there now is “To exist is to change, to change is to mature, to mature is to go on creating oneself endlessly.”—Henri Bergson

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
If at first you don’t succeed, try try again.
Or the humorous corollary:
If at first you don’t succeed, quit while you’re a head.
The actions of men are the best interpreters of their thoughts. -John Locke, philosopher (1632–1704)

To strive with difficulties, and to conquer them, is the highest human felicity.

I really like quotes, and collect them. Here are some I like:
“We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars.”
-Oscar Wilde
or
“Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself.”
-Leo Tolstoy
This one is great (but perhaps better suited to a guidance counselor’s office):
“Don’t ask yourself what the world needs; ask yourself what makes you come alive. And then go and do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”
-Harold Whitman
and
“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.”
-Martin Luther King, Jr.

“That day, for no particular reason, I decided to go for a little run. So I ran to the end of the road, and when I got there, I thought maybe I’d run to the end of town. And when I got there, I thought maybe I’d just run across Greenbough County. And I figured since I run this far, maybe I’d just run across the great state of Alabama. And that’s what I did – I ran clear across Alabama. For no particular reason, I just kept on going. I ran clear to the ocean. And when I got there, I figured since I’d gone this far, I might as well turn around and just keep on going. And when I got to another ocean, I figured since I’d gone this far, I might as well just turn back and keep right on going. When I got tired, I slept. When I got hungry, I ate. When I had to go, you know, I went.” – Forrest Gump
