I have to type in all caps at work on some inputs. I use the caps lock button.
Here, I don’t use all caps for a response. It’s rude. When I use caps on several words, I hold the shift key.
I don’t think about it much, but when I type a title of movie or play, for example, I might HOLD DOWN THE CAPS LOCK.
You meant: @gailcalled But i’m asking WHAT you do. :)
Or am i wrong?
I never use all caps (unless quoting somebody).
I use the caps lock key even for single letters. There’s no point trying to change to using shift as I have learnt to touch type this way.
I don’t use all caps ever. It’s bad online etiquette.
If it’s just a few letters, I might just hold down the shift key, but if it’s a longer word or acronym, I’ll use the caps lock.
I HOLD DOWN THE SHIFT KEY!!
I actually mapped caps lock to Tab.
@The_Compassionate_Heretic How is it bad online etiquette? It only is if you foolishly forget to turn it off and type something so fast that you don’t even realise its still on.
@Ame_Evil: Because, it’s analogous to shouting at someone. When you type in all caps, you’re basically saying, “I’D LIKE TO SHOUT AT YOU RIGHT NOW, BUT SINCE YOU’RE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE INTERNETS, THIS WILL HAVE TO DO! JERK.”
At my work station, ALL CAPS is the required method. I’m so used to doing it at work that I set the CapsLock button, and I have to remember to hit it again while sending an email or iT ENDS UP LOOKING LIKE THIS.
I use CAPS LOCK if I have to type in ALL CAPS. It just makes more sense to do that if you know how to touch type because its much faster than having to alternate what Shift key needs to be pressed.
