How much do you love Peanut butter, in general?

Asked by Axemusica (9500points) September 9th, 2009

I eat peanut butter all the time. I eat a PB&J regularly, at least once a day. I also often just eat it out of the jar with pretzels. Sometimes I just get a big spoon full of it and munch on that. Does this make me strange? How much do you enjoy your peanut butter?

Not as much as bacon or chocolate but more than broccoli.

gailcalled's avatar

I use it primarily in my small Havahart for mice on the days that Milo is asleep at the switch.

evegrimm's avatar

I like peanut butter, but I don’t love peanut butter.

Now, if you were talking about cream cheese…

Tink's avatar

I like peanutbutter but I hate it that it causes me to breakout. So I only eat it once in a while.
Im with @evegrimm on cream cheese.

Do peanut butter jars carry a choking hazard warning about eating straight from a spoon?

Axemusica's avatar

@mrentropy lol, should I have added with a glass of water?

charliecompany34's avatar

eat some faction of it every day. i love peanuts!

Peanut Butter is one of my favorite foods. I was eating a lot of PB and J before I started eating better. Now I’ll just eat a small spoonful of peanut butter once in a while if I feel like I need some protien or if I’m weak my most favorite candy ever of all time a Reese’s Peanutbutter cup!

Axemusica's avatar

@knitfroggy If there’s any type of option for a desert to have peanut butter or some sort I always choose it, especially Reese’s. I love that stuff.

eponymoushipster's avatar

i like it on apples and celery. toast is also ace with pb.

or, melt some chocolate chips and drizzle that over a lump of it. nomtastic.

Likeradar's avatar

I only like it plain on a spoon and occasionally on an apple. It ruins other food for me, especially chocolate. Blech.

Facade's avatar

I only like it with grape jam on bread with no crusts.

It’s all about the almond butter. Cashew butter’s also great. But peanut butter was good too, back when I could eat it. Ask evelyns_pet_zebra for his pistachio butter recipe, I’m looking forward to trying that one.

Sampson's avatar

@wildpotato I’ve never even heard of the other two… I’d love to try them, though!

I really enjoy peanut butter. I don’t eat it that often, but when I do, it’s one hell of a ride.

It’s especially tasty with my grandma’s homemade jam on whole wheat toast.

aprilsimnel's avatar

I like crunchy on seven-grain toast.

smooth>crunchy

I love peanut butter so much that my bad habbit started, as soon as I could feed myself. My mom said that she would turn her back, and find me on the floor with the spoon in my mouth, and peanut butter all over my face.

DrasticDreamer's avatar

I like it a lot, but don’t eat it too often because it’s not the best for you. Favorite candy is definitely Reese’s peanut butter cups. My absolute favorite way to eat peanut butter in general is a peanut butter and pickle sandwich. YUM! :D

brinibear's avatar

@DrasticDreamer I can’t say that I have ever had that type of sandwich.

mcbealer's avatar

PB + chocolate ice cream + chocolate milk + 4 Reese’s® peanut butter cups = milkshake heaven

PB + strawberry Polaner’s on oatmeal bread = best PBJ ever!

tb1570's avatar

A lot!!! But only if it’s all-natural—no hydrogenated oils or any of that crap. A little salt is okay, though.

eponymoushipster's avatar

@DrasticDreamer pb + pickles? are you pregnant?!

OpryLeigh's avatar

I can take it or leave it.

jonsblond's avatar

I make some of the best peanut butter cookies this side of the Mississippi. just sayin

sdeutsch's avatar

I like to heat up some PB in the microwave and then mix it up with some chocolate chips or a drizzle of honey and spread it on crackers – best snack ever!

And Reese’s cups are definitely my candy of choice – there’s always a jar of them sitting on my desk, in case I need an emergency PB fix!

evelyns_pet_zebra's avatar

I like peanut butter, but since I learned how to make nut butter out of other nuts, I like that even more. My favorite so far is pistachio butter.

and if @Saturated_Brain comes along later, someon tell him that I didn’t bring up Evelynism even once in this thread.

evelyns_pet_zebra's avatar

@jonsblond prove it, bring me some in October, I am one of the world’s best judges of peanut butter cookies. I make the best pot of coffee imaginable, and the combination of the two will be like Heaven on Earth.

evelyns_pet_zebra's avatar

@sdeutsch have you tried the double thick peanut butter lovers Reeses?

Zaku's avatar

I love peanut butter pretty well, but I don’t eat it that often, and I don’t often sing about it or dress up as Captain Hook and dance around holding jars of it, either.

zephyr826's avatar

I only like peanut butter in conjunction with chocolate. Buckeyes (not the poisonous plant, but the chocolate-dipped PB balls) rock my world. I also recommend it with Nutella, but that may be a little decadent for some tastes.

Axemusica's avatar

Wow, many new ideas on how to evolve my peanut butter craze, but what’s this talk about not that good for you? If you’re exercising regularly it’s perfect. check this out a discussion on peanut butter. This one is straight from Harvard’s website. It only gets better though, peanut butter is very helpful for weight loss . So I don’t think it’s “unhealthy” at all. :)

jonsblond's avatar

@evelyns_pet_zebra I’ll bring some with chocolate chips and without. I love grabbing a couple in the morning if I don’t have time for breakfast and I always dip them in my coffee. Delicious!

@Axemusica I’ve heard that peanut butter tastes pretty well on hamburgers. I haven’t tried it yet but it does sound like an interesting combination.

Axemusica's avatar

@jonsblond Interesting, yes? Will I try it? Probably not, lol. I have heard of that too, I also heard that it’s good with some cheeses, but I’m not that brave. Although, I do love peanut butter with banana’s which some might find very odd, but I think they’re perfectly matched!

aprilsimnel's avatar

@Axemusica – Elvis ate something like that all the time: peanut butter, banana and bacon sandwiches on Wonder bread. I’ll bet that’s delicious, but I love my heart too much to make a habit of eating such things.

Axemusica's avatar

@aprilsimnel Well, if you read the links I post see earlier peanut butter is actually good for preventing heart disease, much like cheerios! in which peanut butter is also good with I think it was the bacon and wonder bread that did it. I don’t eat white bread. If it doesn’t say whole or grain or fiber or protein I don’t eat it. Besides, wasn’t Elvis are messed up on meds?

aprilsimnel's avatar

Well, 42 years of regularly eating bacon didn’t help

sdeutsch's avatar

@evelyns_pet_zebra I have tried the extra-thick Reese’s, but I have to say, I think they got the chocolate/PB proportions exactly right with the original version. While I do love PB, I think the PB in the extra-thick ones sort of overwhelms the chocolate, and you lose the wonderful combination of flavors! I feel that way about most of the “all new” versions of classic candies – the giant-sized M&Ms? Not nearly as good as the originals…

@zephyr826 I love buckeyes!!!

mcbealer's avatar

did someone say buckeyes?!? succumbing to buckeye daydream…....

DrasticDreamer's avatar

I suggest everyone try a peanut butter and pickle sandwich. You won’t be disappointed.

An no, I’m not pregnant. Unless I’ve been pregnant for the last 14 years of my life… :P

eponymoushipster's avatar

@DrasticDreamer maybe it’s one of those calcified bone babies you hear about on the Discovery Channel…

DrasticDreamer's avatar

@eponymoushipster I knew you were going to say that! lol :)

Zen's avatar

Every day is a good day for PB.

gottamakeart's avatar

if it were possible, I would live on peanut butter and coffee almost exclusivly.

Dr_Dredd's avatar

I also spoon it right out of the jar.
