I am about to go to a friend’s party and there will be a lot of food there. I would eat the food there if I could but I have allergies and I can’t have anything offered there. I know I should have planned ahead but I didn’t and now don’t have anything I can bring. What are some ways I can focus on other things and not get so bummed out that I can’t eat anything when everyone else is eating?

Eat consciously the whole day.
Meditate.
Go four hours without eating.
Are you allergic to nuts? A handful of peanuts, almonds or walnuts supplies the healthy fat that alerts your body that you are full.
Drinking water to fill the empty hole in your stomach will help as well.
Well I’m leaving right now to go but no I’m not allergic to nuts only peanuts. And wheat, gluten, milk, and corn. Oh man. What am I going to do?
Drink plenty of water. Keep it up. And go for the fresh fruits and vegetables, if any. You could stop on the way over and pick up some raw carrots, sugar snap peas, or a fruit salad to go.
Wasn’t it cashews that have some kind of oil in it that makes you feel full? Also peanut-butter seems to have the same effect Yeah nevermind, I guess you like breathing more than having a full feeling.
You’re allergies aren’t giving us a lot of room, so I will just have to repeat the others and advice to drink a lot of water (just prepare for a restless, going to the toilet a lot, night).
You should have asked for them to supply done food you could eat. Just bring a bag of tater-tots in your jacket. anybody gonna pick up in this?
So, I keep wondering here, why don’t you bring a binge of your safe food with you? Just pack a box with everything you like.
Call the person that’s hosting the party and tell them you have a lot of food allergies, and would they mind if you bring a dish to share that you can eat.
Ramadan! Muslims eat nothing from just before sunrise until twilight.Apparently you get used to it.During Ramadan you cant eat or ingest ANYTHING whatsoever.
I millions of people do it every year i’m sure that you could achieve it.
Thanks eveyone for your suggestions. But it in reality it wasn’t needed. My friend had to move her party to another location and they had to change the menu for some reason, as my friend’s mother had to stop at a restaurant to get food which wasn’t part of the plan originally. So I got to have a dinner! There was lots of fruit and grilled veggies. In addition they had cole slaw that I could eat too. So it was good. Except when the cake arrived…...I almost gave in and ate it but I’m glad I didn’t. :) Thanks again everyone.
Oh and @oratio I didn’t have anything I could bring because all the food I usually take was gone and I hadn’t gone shopping yet. But next time I will be prepared. And @PandoraBoxx I usually do that but this time I didn’t have time to prepare anything, which wasn’t good on my part but thankfully the hostess had the sense to get something I could eat! :) @ASoprano I thought of that but I really wanted to eat something there but all the same I probably would have done that if no other option was available.
Nobody got it?? Fine. Napoleon Dynamite!
at the dance, he had tater-tots in his pocket, same as in class
You should eat when you’re hungry. If you don’t when you’re body tells you you’re hungry- the speed of your metabolism decreases. fact.
