Shouldn’t it show up in the applications tab of iTunes when the iPhone menu is selected?

You need to upgrade to iTunes 9 for it to show up. Make sure you upgrade the Firmware on your iPhone too. It is there.

There is an iTunes 9 already?!
Yes.. It came out on Wednesday.
Yes its in iTunes 9, its under the apps tab when you connect your iPhone or iPod touch.
I just used iTunes yesterday and it didn’t tell me there was an upgrade.
iTunes 9 has some pretty nice improvements, check out Apple.com/itunes to read what they are.
I’ve checked that spot, and it’s just not there. I’m doing what @johnpowell said and updating the firmware, maybe that’ll work.
@Tink1113 You’re connected to the internet, right? If you are, just look for the Apple Software Update program and run it.
Note.. They are two separate updates. I would update iTunes and then upgrade the phone.
And Tink.. The upgrade is also for the iPod Touch. But be careful if you jailbroke it.
@Fred931 Yeah I am, but it usually shows me a window saying there is an upgrade.
@johnpowell Its not jailbroken.
side note: wouldnt it be nice to just be able to update your iPhone’s firmware over WiFi?
It would if it were necessary, for instance, if your computer is a 10-year-old PC, it would probably be better for the iPhone to handle the download instead of the computer breaking its back trying to open iTunes.
Another side note: i’m getting impatient; the download is taking 20 minutes
@Fred931 it shouldnt take that long, are you downloading anything else? Or just have slow internet?
Yeah. The iTunes update is about 70Megs and the iPhone one is about 250Megs.
They are just swapping out everything. It is lazy on Apples part. But I can understand why they do it.
WTF IT JUST WENT INTO RECOVERY MODE!!!!!
at least i synced it about 2 seconds ago!
“an unknown error occured (2006)” Great, now it won’t even restore… i’ll ask the question aloud then.
You have to have your iPhone plugged in, then click on your device, then choose. the applications tab.
