Asked by wenn (2673points) September 13th, 2009

A friend sort of mentioned if i move to LA from Minnesota i will have to take a written exam and driving test to acquire a California license.

just in case, i am 22 and have no moving violations on my record.

just looking for some details or a link to visit….i googled but didnt find anything useful and now feeling lazy. thanks in advance.

You have to pass a traffic laws and sign test (36 questions), but no, you don’t need to take a driving test (you do if license is from another country). Welcome to L.A.! See ya…Gary/wtf

To switch into the state with a valid license, yeah, you need to retake the written test, but totally not the driving one.

Only the written test. Go to the DMV, get the small booklet, memorize it. Take the test. If you fail, look at the questions you got wrong, then take the test again 2 minutes later. Repeat until you pass. Cheers.

I think you can’t take it again if you fail until the next day… at least, that what happens if you fail your C class portion of your motorcycle written test.
