How is the transport of a sugar/amino acid through a kidney epithelial cell different from the mechanism of glucose transport in a liver cell?

Asked by MissAnthrope (21511points) September 13th, 2009

I have a very daunting Animal Physiology test tomorrow and this is one of the study questions. However, the liver cell is not mentioned in my notes or in the book.. the teacher is absent-minded, so I’m not surprised. Anyhow, could anyone help me here, please? :)

Just did a quick google and it looks like it’s active transport in the kidneys and passive transport in the liver. I’m always a little wary of using wikepedia as an expert source, but here’s some details.

Thanks very much.. I’d looked at the Wikipedia page earlier and didn’t really understand what it was saying in reference to my question. :)
